Michelen has undergone a series of regenerative projects, which reopened canals, creating floating walkways and rejuvenating the river Dijile that flows through its city centre. The city has set ambitious goals towards climate neutrality and circularity, signing the Covenant of Mayors in 2012. Since then, many initiatives have materialised, including repair cafés, collective vegetable gardens, a tool library, etc. Its more sustainable stores and brands are equally diverse and exciting.
