Fancy freshening up your wardrobe without buying anything new? Come to the clothing swap on 11 October 2026, which is part of the Wear for Life campaign. Thousands of collected garments will be available to swap in cultural centre Midwest on Cabralstraat. As if you’re in a shop, but without price tags and without a till. For all genders, all sizes and all ages. No tokens, no “one item for one item”, no entrance fee. Whoever wants to bring something, brings; whoever wants to take something, takes; whoever wants both, does both.
Practical: 11 October 2026, from 12:00 to 17:00, Cabralstraat 1 (Midwest), free entry (registration required).

West Kleedt Aan
Give-away shops for adults and children
Clothing doesn’t have to be expensive to be valuable. That’s what West Kleedt Aan proves, a volunteer foundation with two “give-away” shops in Amsterdam-West, one for adults and one for children. The locations are just a few minutes’ walk apart in Bos en Lommer.
The concept is as simple as it is special: you hand in clothing you no longer wear, take home clothing you like, or you leave it at one of the two. In the shop you can take up to three items per visit and leave a donation, with which the foundation can keep doing its work. This way West Kleedt Aan limits the growth of the textile mountain and fights clothing poverty in the neighbourhood. Do you have a garment that needs to be repaired? In their own atelier it’s made wearable again for a small contribution, and from leftover fabrics the volunteers even sew upcycled bags. Besides the permanent shops, you can also find West Kleedt Aan with a stall at various markets in West all year round.
