8beaufort.Hamburg’s products echo the tails of old sails once travelling the Warden Sea and the English Channel. The brand transforms vegetable-tanned European leather, discarded sailcloth and other natural materials once used on flat-bottomed ships and wooden boats into timeless designs. Repurposed with a modern twist, these fragments of history are uplifted and upcycled to an art form, where every stitch echoes the legacy of the sea and the spirit of adventure. On the Beaufort scale, which seafarers use as a guide, the number 8 means that all signs point to a storm, and this name encapsulates the fashion evolution founder Sabine aims to ignite. Each sneaker, bag, and hat you can find in the collection beautifully marries tradition and innovation. The brand’s shoes, crafted with meticulous care by family-run businesses in Portugal, embody the highest standards of quality and responsibility. In a collaboration with Secumar, 8beaufort. Hamburg elevates functional fashion to new heights, marrying castaway fabrics with style in a seamless blend.
We were looking for the right strategy to bring the upcycling of sailcloth out of its niche here in Hamburg and beyond the country’s borders. In COSH!, we found a competent partner who speaks our language, understands our products and doesn’t engage in greenwashing. When COSH! came round the corner with the surprise of the pop-up store, we were immediately hooked. The opportunity to be part of the Conscious Fashion Store in Berlin is a great opportunity for us to be present in Germany’s fashion capital. – Sabine Moorman, founder of 8beaufort.Hamburg
Founders Bettina and Susan from this Düsseldorf label communicate the details about their production partners, certified materials and forward-thinking vision as transparently as possible. Bearth offers you a timeless collection consisting of a range of basic sweaters, tees, and cool zip-styles for men and women that you can easily combine and that make a great base or addition to every wardrobe. High-quality and long-lasting materials are highly valued by Bettina and Susan, which is why they chose GOTS-certified and recycled cotton for their collection. A special finish creates a very soft surface that doesn’t only feel great but lets the colours shine and significantly improves the product’s longevity.
In need of some exclusive sexy lingerie and swimwear? This Berlin-based studio has exactly what you’re looking for. Anekdot Studio’s pieces are made from high-quality leftover materials and the styles are produced as limited editions, according to how much material was available. Founder and pioneer Sofie started the label in 2015 when she could not find lingerie to match her expectations considering design, sustainability, and transparency. Upon the first encounter with COSH! she mentioned her quest for transparency was sparked by the Honest By brands, which COSH! founder Niki once initiated as COO business developer. Ever since, Sofie established this more sustainable label Anekdot in a very transparent way. Passionate products worth discovering.
Established in 2017 amidst Berlin’s vibrant cultural scene, ÏMAIMA represents a fusion of modest fashion with a strong environmental and social responsibility commitment. Crafted for women who seek elegance without compromise, the brand intertwines the artistic essence of Berlin with the heritage of Middle Eastern handcraft. It offers items that are predominantly hand-woven and made out of 100% GOTS-certified cotton from Jaipur, combined with Eco Vero viscose and recycled elements.
5Loops surprises you with stylish and authentic eyewear. It has its origins in the shared experiences of twins Andrea and Caroline, who grew up on the shores of Lima, Peru, where nature was an integral part of their lives. However, as they embarked on journeys around the world, they witnessed the harmful impacts of various pollutants on both the environment and humanity. Andrea, an ophthalmologist who worked in Shanghai, felt compelled to take action within her field of expertise and reached out to her sister for assistance. Together, they founded5Loops, an eyewear brand that embodies more sustainability, style, and authenticity, manufacturing frames made of biodegradable BioAcetate S70. What sets them apart is their unwavering commitment to considering environmental factors throughout the eyewear’s entire lifecycle, guided by the principles of a circular economy.
Are you looking for a real piece of art in your closet? Founder Clara Kaesdorf’s fashion label of the same name is based in Berlin and is a testament to craftsmanship. At Clara Kaesdorf you can find unusual cuts with picturesque, bold, self-designed patterns. Her garments are regularly showcased at prestigious Fashion Weeks in Berlin, London, Copenhagen, and Paris. She strives to repurpose and elevate craftsmanship by collaborating with small European weavers and repurposing overproductions from major Italian fashion houses. The materials used are a thoughtful selection of high-quality natural fibres like wool blends, silk, linen, cotton, and innovative bio-based fibres like Lyocell and Tencel.
When we heard about COSH, we were immediately excited to join a network of like-minded people. It’s great to see our credo represented by a platform throughout Berlin and to make it easier for customers to make more sustainable purchasing decisions. That’s also why we look forward to being an exhibitor and representative for the platform at the Berlin pop-up. In the end, all COSH! users will benefit from greater awareness of the platform thanks to the pop-up, since it helps every customer to quickly find the shortest route to the next more sustainable store. At the same time, the Berlin pop-up also allows different designers to collaborate, which creates synergies for future projects. So it’s a win-win for everyone involved! – Designer Clara Kaesdorf
AYANI is a fashion brand founded in Berlin and offers timeless dresses for the modern working woman with more sustainably sourced fabrics. Its founder Ani Bagdasaryan is of Armenian ancestry, which prompted her to search for a family-run business in Armenia to collaborate with. Until recently, the brand worked directly with a small Armenian workshop to create their new collections at the start of every season. Unfortunately the outbreak of the war in the Ukraine made transport impossible, forcing the production to be relocated to Poland. The dresses are made in small batches and on demand. For every AYANI dress sold, a donation to an impact-driven, Armenian based NGO is made to help tackle rural poverty and illiteracy.
Each of these brands, unique in their approach and steadfast in their missions, are shaping the future of fashion. Feel inspired? Don’t miss our opening party on 16 May at Conscious Fashion Store in Berlin!
