Don’t miss these spots in creative Borgerhout
In recent years, Borgerhout has developed into a magnet for lovers of creativity and art. Known by the nickname BoHo, the neighbourhood is famous for its charming coffee bars, art galleries, quirky shops and unique eateries. These original places in and around the district are a must-visit this summer.
The summer bar of SUSSY, short for Suspiciously Sustainable, is the hotspot you shouldn’t miss this summer. Until the end of August 2025, this place will be a lively crossroads of social engagement, sustainability and local craftsmanship. Stroll through the swap & upcycling market, sit down for a delicious lunch, or let your creativity run wild during one of the inspiring workshops, such as paper upcycling. SUSSY opens its doors exclusively on weekends and is definitely worth a visit for those who love meaningful summer days with a fresh twist.
Dizzy Optiek is the place to be if you are looking for glasses that perfectly combine style and comfort. Here you will not find mass-produced products, but a carefully selected range of glasses from independent brands that are committed to more ethical production and sustainability.
Whether you are looking for a distinctive look or something timeless, at Dizzy Optiek you will find frames that suit your face and your values. You can also visit them for eye tests, repairs and advice. Planning a visit? It’s definitely worth it.
Looking for a unique summer jacket with character? Then ANDREA BOS is the place to be. In her studio in Borgerhout, this designer transforms second-hand textiles into original denim jackets, curtains and other garments.
Prefer something tailor-made? Together with Andrea, you can choose the perfect fabrics and cut for a custom-made design that suits you perfectly. You are also welcome for repairs: with her visible mending technique, your clothes not only get a second life, but also a new story.
Tapis Plain is a colourful carpet workshop where each piece is hand-tufted from recycled yarns, deadstock wool and other residual materials. From striking wall hangings to floor carpets: each design is unique and full of character.
In addition to the permanent collection, you can also have a piece made to measure, or get started yourself during a workshop at BorGerHub in Antwerp. In just a few hours, you can learn how to make your own rug. It’s sure to make you happy!
