On October 2, COSH! opens the Future of Fashion Circular Hub in Bruges: a pop-up, meeting place and headquarters in one
On Friday October 2 at 6 pm, COSH! opens the Future of Fashion Circular Hub at Burg 4 in the historic centre of Bruges. Since 2018, the Belgian platform has been guiding consumers to more than 1,000 more sustainable initiatives and stores in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and 10 other countries. For the first time, the work of COSH! and its member businesses becomes something you can experience in person at the circular textile hub, reaching an international audience through tourism.
For eight years, COSH! worked mainly online. The platform welcomes more than half a million users a year, and the free Digital Wardrobe app, launched in November 2024, now counts 20,000 registered wardrobes. At the hub, visitors can discover clothing from unique brands, swap with each other, learn to repair and join a range of workshops.
The concept is set up as a test: the hub starts as an experience centre with a rotating selection. Every month brings new corners, a new exhibition and new brands to discover in the pop-up. COSH! also runs its international operations from here.
From upcycled clothing and bags to artisanal jewellery with Colombian roots
In the first edition of the hub, you can discover designs by thirteen innovative brands and makers from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy: koda amsterdam, Beverly Berlin, Studio Wunderbar, Joseffa, Frii, Wolvis, Tuya Sar, Fien Demuynck, Tezoro Atelier, Nature Bar, Atelier Goldfisch, Y‑05 Yoga Lifestyle Fashion and Naaierij. Five of these labels work in a circular way, starting from textiles that already exist.
Studio Wunderbar makes one-of-a-kind coats from vintage wool blankets and tablecloths in the Netherlands, and until now only sold them in New York and Amsterdam. Beverly Berlin designs unique bags and clothing from second-hand men’s shirts and ties in Berlin. koda amsterdam turns leftover curtain and upholstery fabric into unique, timeless accessories in Dutch ateliers. Established Belgian upcycling brand Joseffa makes nightwear from worn men’s shirts. Frii from Italy gives unused hotel sheets a new purpose as shirts for both men and women.
You’ll also find beautiful knitwear in merino wool by Wolvis and Mongolian cashmere by Tuya Sar, handmade jewellery by Fien Demuynck, Atelier Goldfisch and Tezoro Atelier, yoga wear by Y‑05, plastic-free cosmetics and soap made from recovered Christmas trees or coffee grounds by Nature Bar.
There’s something for everyone to discover or experience at the Future of Fashion Circular Hub. The selection focuses mainly on the luxury segment and accessible gifts for anyone looking for a unique, handmade piece with a story. Think architects, artists, entrepreneurs working in sustainability or the circular economy, and people who want to wear their values. With the second-hand selection, swap events and workshops, COSH! wants to give everyone the chance to get to know what circular fashion has to offer.
“Circular”: what does that actually mean?
All products and activities at the Future of Fashion Circular Hub are linked to the R‑ladder, the hierarchy of circular strategies that keeps textiles in use for as long as possible:
Reduce and Repurpose: Over the coming months, upcycling designers will host workshops to repurpose different types of materials. What you learn there, you’ll also see in unique finished garments at the circular hub. Five upcycling labels at the hub show collections made from existing shirts, sheets, interior fabric remnants and blankets. Because they give these materials a new function, less new raw material is needed.
You’ll also find a collection point at the hub for jeans, men’s blazers, white linen and tablecloths you no longer use. COSH! is also looking for lace, old hand-knotted rugs and tapestries that can no longer be restored.
Do you run a business and would you like us to collect lace, tablecloths, curtains or bedspreads that are no longer in use? Send an email to info@cosh.eco (ideally with a photo of the material). They’ll be used for upcycling workshops.
Through vacant property manager Entrakt, COSH! found a suitable building that combines an office with a creative space for the hub.
“It’s fantastic that COSH! is becoming our neighbour in the building, so together we can spread the vision of slow fashion. Together we can offer visitors an interesting experience where past, present, vision, craft and quality come together.” Katrien and Ingrid, WEEVN, Handmade in Brugge makers
Of course, the hub’s interior is second-hand too. The previous creative tenants had left the building in rough shape. Look closely and you’ll still spot the odd graffiti tag or artwork on the walls. To turn the first floor into a textile hub, COSH! painted over most of it and furnished it with items from Kringwinkel ’t Rad in Bruges, Materialenbank Roeselare and 2dehands.be.
“We noticed a tension between what we do digitally and what people want to feel and try on. That applied to both consumers and our team. International interns who worked at our previous office missed the feeling of working with textiles or fashion. Now, at our new location, we can anchor our company culture and values more firmly. And honestly: the range of this kind of unique and more sustainable fashion in Bruges has shrunk considerably in recent years. We didn’t want to just let that happen.” Niki de Schryver, founder and CEO of COSH!
We expect a mixed audience, from Bruges residents to day-trippers from Belgium and countries around the world.
On Friday afternoons, school classes taking part in the Mijn Kast Telt challenge, in which pupils get to work with the Digital Wardrobe app, can drop by for a guided tour.
Entrepreneurs who run workshops or have a circular initiative and would like to become part of the hub can contact COSH! at info@cosh.eco.
COSH! Conscious Shopping Made Easy is a fashion-tech platform that connects consumers, brands, stores and cities in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. With the COSH! Digital Wardrobe app, COSH! helps residents make the most of the clothes in their own wardrobe and find more sustainable stores, repair ateliers and swap initiatives in their neighbourhood. COSH! also provides cities with data and measurement tools to track their circular goals.
