Exactly one week ago, the much-anticipated Berlin Fall pop-up Edition officially kicked off, marking the start of another exciting chapter for the 2024 COSH! X Conscious Fashion Store Berlin pop-up. Curious to know what’s been happening? Buckle up, because we’re diving into all the exciting details from the launch event!
With our 2024 COSH! X Conscious Fashion Store Berlin pop-up nearing its conclusion, we kicked off the final edition last Tuesday, and it was nothing short of spectacular. A total of 26 entrepreneurs have joined us this time around, infusing Potsdamer Platz with new ideas, inspiring stories, and innovative products.
Over the course of the next two months, until the 16th of November, you can catch these amazing products from Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, and Spain at Potsdamer Platz. From stunning handcrafted jewellery and sophisticated handbags to durable, stainproof children’s wear and beyond, the pop-up offers a wide range of more sustainable, thoughtfully designed products that cater to every taste and need. We have a couple of familiar faces rejoining us, such as Beverly Berlin, Achilles & The Tortoise, Twothirds and Bearth. But it’s the newcomers that bring a fresh spark to this edition, amongst them: Rhea, Wellicious, Imperative and Moov360. You can read more about our Fall entrepreneurs here.
One of our lovely entrepreneurs, Birgit Tappe from vincente, hosted a workshop during the launch. The atmosphere was warm and inviting as a group of knitting enthusiasts gathered around the table to learn, share ideas, and of course, start on their next cosy project. With winter just around the corner, many participants were eager to get a head start on knitting scarves, sweaters, and other essentials that will keep them warm in the colder months. The workshop sparked delightful conversations, making it a fun and engaging experience for everyone involved.
As per our last opening event in the Summer, we dusted off the wheel of fortune. We couldn’t help bringing back the ever-popular ‘Glücksrad’. Many took their chances and spun the wheel, and some even became the lucky winner of a goodie from one of our Fall entrepreneurs, congratulations! For those of you who got lucky enough to snag a gift card, don’t forget to bring it with you next time you visit the pop-up and treat yourself to something special!
To round off our evening a panel discussion took place, centred around the art of knitwear. Joining us on stage were Isabeau Goddé (Wolvis), Ute Luft (vauno), Janne Landuyt (Janne Landuyt), Birgit Tappe (vincente) and innovation manager Veronika Burany from VORN. Together, they engaged in an enriching conversation about the challenges and joys of working with knitwear, from sourcing materials to even giving tips.
One of the standout moments of the discussion was when the panellists shared tips on how to care for knitwear, something that many people are apprehensive about. Isabeau (Wolvis) reminded us that knitwear doesn’t need to be washed as frequently as we might think. Knitwear doesn’t get as dirty as we think after just one or two wears. Instead, letting your sweaters air out overnight, allowing them to breathe in the fresh air and dew, can do wonders to refresh them, extending the time between washes significantly.
Janne (Janne Landuyt)offered another practical tip when you do resort to using the washing machine: “It’s almost like with your hair,” she said. “You don’t wash it when it’s not dirty, but sometimes you just want to give it a little nutrition with conditioner. The same goes for your knitwear — try washing your sweaters with just fabric softener.”
The entrepreneurs shared their personal stories that led them to pursue their craft. For Birgit (vincente) it started roughly 20 years ago with her son Vincent who was 2 at the time. As a single mother, she started knitting clothes for him. Since then, she has made vincente grow into something truly special, and built a community around her brand.
Another topic that resonated with the entrepreneurs, was the struggle small brand face when sourcing materials. Isabeau (Wolvis) opened up about the difficulties they had finding their supplier.
‘You need to have a minimum order of x amount of kg of wool, and as a small company you don’t need these kilograms of wool, so then you overpurchase.’ – Isabeau (Wolvis)
The alternative, as she mentions, would be limiting their collection to a handful of colours available in certain qualities. Despite these challenges, a wool producer in Italy that was the perfect fit for Wolvis was found, allowing Wolvis to continue creating more sustainable knitwear without compromise
After the panel discussion, the evening continued with some valuable networking time, allowing entrepreneurs, customers, and industry professionals to mingle, share experiences, and form new connections. The event wrapped up on a high note, leaving everyone inspired and excited for what’s to come in the coming weeks.
Whether you’re looking for the perfect Fall outfit or want to get a head start on your Christmas shopping, this pop-up is the place to be! Don’t miss out on discovering these talented entrepreneurs and their unique, more sustainable products here at Potsdamer Platz until the 16th of November!
