All of their products are designed in Amsterdam and produced in Europe. Most of the materials come from Italy, France and Spain. Teym always works with professional suppliers who strictly adhere to all the rules set by the European Union for the textile industry. So you can be sure that the clothes are made in safe working conditions and for a fair wage!

The company attaches great importance to a healthy and pleasant working environment and fair wages for the people they work with. Teym products are made exclusively in Europe, to minimise CO2 emissions from transport, but also so that they can regularly visit the factories. The manufacturers deliver quality and craftsmanship every time. Teym always mentions where each item of clothing is made, for example in Lithuania, Portugal or Romania.

Quality is a priority to Teym, which is why the brand always chooses the perfect material to bring their designs to life. For example, they choose organic cotton for the t‑shirts and sweatshirts, but conventional cotton for the shirts. This is because conventional cotton is woven differently so the fabric is less likely to crease. The brand hopes to achieve the same with organic cotton in the future.

Sustainability still has an important role to play in the Teym collection. One example is the sweatshirt made from GOTS-certified organic cotton. The GOTS label guarantees that the product is made from organic cotton and verifies the working conditions in which it was produced. Teym also uses synthetic materials. The parka, for example, is made out of polyamide. This seems like a less sustainable material, but again, quality is most important to Teym. By using this high-quality synthetic material, the brand ensures that the parka will last a long time and withstand wind and weather, which is very sustainable. Another good thing is that you don’t need to wash parkas more than once a year, limiting the release of microplastics. 

Teym’s collection scores well in terms of circularity. The clothes are always mono material. That means a garment is 100% made from one material, with no blends. This makes the clothes easier to recycle when you get rid of them. Natural materials such as cotton and wool are biodegradable.

Teym works with manufacturers and suppliers from Europe. As a result, the brand has a short supply chain.

Teym believes fair products should have fair price tags. Production takes place in the same European factories as several luxury brands, but prices are a lot lower. This is because Teym does not work with expensive middlemen or run marketing campaigns. You’re just paying the price of your quality and timeless clothes.

Animal welfare is important to Teym, but quality comes first. That’s why they use leather in their shoes and wallets, among other products, as it is better quality than vegan alternatives. Teym chooses sustainable products with longer lifespans. Unfortunately, vegan alternatives are often synthetic and of lower quality, which reduces their lifespan.

The leather used by Teym is chemically tanned in a closed-loop process. Chemicals are used in this process, but they are recaptured so they do not end up in the environment. The brand is looking for ways to switch to vegetable tanning without losing the quality of the leather. Their goal is for all their leather to be vegetable tanned by 2024.

The merino jumper is made entirely from merino wool. Here, Teym works with Woolmark® certified sheep farmers in Italy. This means that animal welfare is the farmers’ priority and does not involve mulesing. When sheep are not well cared for or are unhealthy, the quality of the wool is greatly affected. Again, the quality of the material is given high priority alongside animal welfare.

The company has developed its own golden rules to contribute to a more sustainable fashion industry:

• Make sustainable products. Putting quality and design first is at the heart of sustainability. Only make clothes that will stand the test of time.

• Timelessness. One impeccable wardrobe, no overhyped collections.

• Made in Europe. A healthy working environment and fair wages for the people Teym works with are an absolute must and not just a nice extra.

• Always a fair price. Conscious consumption should not have to be prohibitive. At Teym, you buy directly from the maker, without intermediaries who charge their own margin. A fair price for a fair product.

As part of their business model, Teym does not offer discounts on their products. By not using expensive middlemen or marketers, the company can make quality products at fair prices. All of the products remain in the Teym collection permanently. The brand is therefore a true believer in slow fashion, only replenishing their stock every 3 months, on average. 

To ensure quality, Teym extensively tests and evaluates products in the design phase before they are launched. The design phase of a new item takes about a year. From finding the perfect materials to lifetime testing, Teym takes the time to pursue perfection in every detail. In doing so, they attach great importance to the feedback they receive from customers.

Each product comes with a maintenance card that includes care tips and tricks for each material. This way, you can make sure your purchase stays beautiful for longer. Teym is working on creating a comprehensive care guide for each item, with videos, allowing customers to extend the life of their pieces for as long as possible. Any holes in your Teym item? The brand provides free thread so you can repair the item yourself (or have it repaired) and then keep wearing it for as long as possible.

Teym is very transparent about their manufacturers and materials. On the site, you can find where each product is made and what it is made from. The only thing that could be improved is the lack of information on the origin of the leather used in the shoes, bags and purses.
