Would you like to pamper your partner with a beautiful diamond ring or necklace, a minimalist bracelet or earrings with unique gemstones? Below, we share our list of inspiring jewellery designers and their websites so you can find a beautiful, ethical piece of jewellery!
FAIRMINED GOLD JEWELLERY, HANDMADE IN GHENT
Line Vanden Bogaerde creates refined and bold jewellery, engagement rings and wedding rings, all from her own atelier in Ghent! The timeless jewellery is made of fairmined white and yellow gold.
In the collections of Line you will find earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings and cufflinks. If you like, you can also have an engagement or wedding ring made according to your wishes and the taste of your loved one!
Line Vanden Bogaerde currently (January 2024) has a new festive collection inspired by Caviar, also known as black gold. In the KAVIAR collection, Line translated the age-old granulation technique into a contemporary visual language with both organic and sleek, rectilinear design. The KAVIAR collection consists of pieces in silver, gold-plated silver or full Fairmined gold. Some jewellery contains Tahiti South Sea pearls or black natural diamonds.
HANDMADE, MINIMALISTIC JEWELLERY
At Or Service you will find handmade, minimalist jewellery with a more conscious soul. Jewellery designer Lynn Geerinck is a renowned craftswoman and uses recycled and fairmined gold. In the permanent collection, you will discover earrings, bracelets and rings. Are you looking for something more personal? Make an appointment at Or Service and have your engagement or wedding ring custom-made.
The latest (January 2024) collection “Brutalismo” is a series inspired by brutalist architecture. The nod to this architectural style translates into a strongly distinct design that emphasises the materials used: silver, gold-plated silver and 18-carat gold.
UNIQUE GEMSTONES
Nico Taeymans is an experienced jewellery designer with a great passion for his craft. All his jewels are handmade in his workshop in Antwerp by himself and a team of skilled craftsmen. In addition to the permanent, seasonless collection of earrings, necklaces and bracelets, Nico also makes custom jewellery such as wedding and engagement rings, but also beautiful funeral jewellery.
ELEGANT LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS
The Belgian brand Nue has refined jewellery with lab-grown diamonds. Therefore, these diamonds are made in a laboratory and are comparatively more ethically responsible than blood diamonds. It is essential to know that lab-grown diamonds are optically and chemically identical to mined diamonds! The only difference is in the origin, impact and traceability.
All jewellery by Nue is made with 18k recycled gold. The designs are timeless; thanks to the high-quality materials, every piece of jewellery will last a lifetime.
The latest collection (January 2024) is called Duality, a mixture of yellow and white gold. In the collection, they play with shapes and colours, which results in beautiful items.
CRAFTMANSHIP AND ENGINEERING COME TOGETHER
Huis Pauwels Spaenjers is a gold smithy where old gold is given a new life. The designer duo Audi Pauwels and Kitty Spaenjers have been putting down true craftsmanship combined with perfect engineering for many years. Do you like sleek, minimalist and uniqueness? Then you’ve come to the right place at Huis Pauwels Spaenjers. On top of that, Audi and Kitty also work with more sustainable materials including recycled gold.
HANDMADE JEWELLERY FROM AFRICA
Each piece of jewellery by LAMU is carefully handmade in Kenya using recycled brass. The creation process is a true act of love for art and craftsmanship. Brass is melted in small batches, creating around ten units of each design at a time. These designs are then transformed into unique and more sustainable pieces by the talented artisans of Kibera, Nairobi.
When you choose a LAMU jewel, you not only get a beautiful and unique accessory, but you also support a social enterprise that connects artisans and designers from different parts of Africa with the European market.
JEWELS FROM FAIRTRADE GOLD
Atelier Luz is a Fairtrade goldsmith, located in the East of Amsterdam. In the workshop of Atelier Luz, goldsmith and designer Marike Hauser makes handmade and high-quality jewellery from fairtrade gold. Sleek, organic shapes, (im)perfect gemstones and simplicity are recurring elements in her collections. All jewellery is made in the workshop at the back of the store, where Marike designs, advises and creates together with her skilled team.
In addition to handmade gold rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings in both gold and silver, Atelier Luz also offers unique, handmade, fairtrade custom wedding and engagement rings.
RECYCLED MATERIALS
Belgian designer Zoë Detrez makes elegant, timeless and minimalist jewellery from high-quality materials that can often be recycled, such as gold and silver. She completed her studies as a jewellery designer in Hasselt and started her workshop in Rotterdam. From here, she designs and crafts her own jewellery, but also leather bags.
The jewellery is made to order, which keeps stocks to a minimum. Do you have a personal design suggestion? Then you can also visit the workshop by appointment. Zoë is happy to sit together with you to create a unique design for your loved one.
STATEMENT JEWELLERY FROM TEXTILES
Looking for a unique piece of jewellery that is not made of gold, silver or gemstones? Amsterdam jewellery designer Iris Nijenhuis makes high-quality earrings, necklaces, bracelets and one-of-a-kind items from textiles using laser cutting. Her innovative designs are modular: the different pieces of fabric are put together like a puzzle without fasteners such as glue. The result is a unique, high-quality piece of jewellery with which your loved one makes a true statement. You can also shop her collection at Multiple in Hasselt.
