Body positivity has been a term that is becoming more and more popular the past years. While it is a great victory for people of all different sizes to see themselves represented in media campaigns from their favourite brands, it is also highly criticised for being ‘just a trend’. Some brands use it just as a marketing strategy, without really matching the values of inclusivity.
But it’s not all brands doing this harm. In a world where fashion has often catered to a narrow ideal, a growing number of brands are honestly challenging the status quo by bringing the true message of body positivity to their customers. Some fashion brands show the world that their clothes are really for everyone, no matter your size, body type or shape. And even better: they’re doing it more sustainably by prioritizing eco-friendlier practices and more ethical production alongside inclusivity. Because style should celebrate every body, not just some.
