Experience slow fashion: hand-picked styles from your neighbourhood
Neukölln and Kreuzberg: fiercely loved and explosive. These Berlin districts are a melting pot of cultures and creative energy. Both neighbourhoods are known for their vibrant art scene, international cuisine, and numerous cafés lining colourful streets. From cosy bookshops to hidden galleries, Kreuzberg and Neukölln offer an unconventional charm that captivates both long-time residents and newcomers, inspiring many designers to open their own shops.
Here, where the old meets the new and a sense of community lingers in the air, a stroll through the alleys reveals new treasures at every turn. We’ll show you our favourite shops where you can find the latest styles to carry you through the day effortlessly and with a clear conscience.
WESEN combines showroom, store, and studio in one, offering exceptionally well-designed, durable fashion and accessories. Here, you’ll find a vibrant mix of well-known eco-brands and emerging young designers. The shop owner, Mareike, also produces her own slow fashion label, “format,” right on-site, perfectly blending timeless design with distinctive cuts. Whether you shop in-store or online, you can look forward to personalised advice, environmentally conscious packaging, and lovingly crafted products made directly on the premises.
Located in the heart of Kreuzberg, frau wald herr. serves as a shop, neighbourhood hub, and sewing workshop where design and craftsmanship are celebrated, taught, and acquired. Since 2012, this extraordinary boutique, run by Eva and her partner, has offered a carefully curated collection of clothing, accessories, and gifts, all produced locally, ethically, and more sustainably. Eva’s workshops are particularly recommended, where she shares her sewing expertise, inspiring and guiding participants to create their own designs.
Upcycling is rethought and realised in a unique way at Beverly Berlin. In Ulla’s design studio, every item of clothing becomes a colourful expression of transformation and original craftsmanship. Whether made from old moving blankets, second-hand shirts, ties or rare vintage materials, each creation has its own character and appeals above all to those who are looking for fashion with soul. Please note that Beverly Berlin does not have fixed opening hours, so it is recommended that you contact Ulla in advance before visiting her studio.
Anekdot Studio has done real pioneering work when it comes to more sustainable underwear and swimwear. The upcycling brand uses high-quality materials from production surpluses, discontinued models, fabric remnants, unsold stock and vintage embellishments. These materials have never been worn before, but Anekdot breathes new life into them. The limited quantities and unique fabrics make each piece an exclusive treasure. For anyone looking for more sustainable yet seductive lingerie and selected swimwear, Anekdot is well worth a visit.
This jewellery label has made a name for itself through the use of innovative, nature-based materials, transforming them into wearable sculptures. Atelier Elle Pé, founded by Luisa Pflüger in 2020, symbolises a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and a holistic design approach. With the vision of creating heirloom-quality unique pieces, Luisa follows a distinctive and transparent production process. Her jewellery-making begins with locally grown bamboo, which is carefully hand-harvested and then crafted into delicate jewellery sculptures. These unique sculptures are used to create moulds for wax casting with recycled silver or gold.
Luisa, a truly multidisciplinary artist, utilises her diverse skills to create jewellery that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also fosters a deeper emotional connection with her clients. Each piece from Atelier Elle Pé is wearable art, evoking emotions and embodying the legacy of artisanal excellence.
Idyllically located in the Gräfekiez, this shop embodies exclusive knitwear artistry. Led by designer Birgit Tappe, who honed her craft at the renowned Berlin University of the Arts, the atelier blends traditional techniques with modern design and luxurious Italian yarns. The collections include both growing children’s clothing and sophisticated adult fashion, with each piece crafted from high-quality natural materials such as merino wool, silk, and cashmere.
These fabrics are consciously sourced from certified suppliers in Italy to ensure superior quality and durability. Birgit Tappe’s creations are known for combining classic elegance with a touch of poetic flair, resulting in timeless classics that can be cherished for generations.
Attention, upcycling enthusiasts! bolsos berlin, founded by the versatile artist Britta Eppinger, embodies the philosophy of upcycling in its purest form. In her studio in Kreuzberg, she transforms discarded materials such as old advertising banners, sailcloths, and parachutes into durable and versatile accessories. Each product is a one-of-a-kind creation, crafted with a deep passion for the three R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle — and of course, creativity.
Britta is committed to raising awareness of upcycling, zero waste, and the circular economy through her designs. The pieces are not only fashion statements but also tell the story of their materials and the creative process behind each one.

Kleiderei Berlin is a library of a different kind. Instead of books, you’ll find fashion to discover and borrow. As a fashion library, it offers a unique platform where members have access to a wide selection of clothing that they can borrow and return at their convenience. Here, you can constantly explore new looks without making a permanent investment or buying new items all the time. Kleiderei exclusively supports local designers, more sustainable brands, and carefully selected second-hand pieces.
In addition to borrowing, Kleiderei also offers the option to purchase selected items, allowing members to permanently integrate their favourite outfits into their wardrobes.
