Maria and Berta are sisters and founders of Belamer. They share the same values, the same love for nature and pursue the same dream: to inspire natural beauty.

Passionate about caring for the planet and craftsmanship, all Belamer pieces are designed and produced ethically and responsibly in a workshop in Barcelona.

They work with a workshop that is run by a team of amazing women with over 20 years of experience in the swimwear industry. In addition, working with local seamstresses allows them to have better control over the development of their products and ensure that fair working conditions are met.

All their garments are made with regenerated raw materials of very high quality. They work with ECONYL® and other local brands committed to innovation and environmental care. 

ECONYL® reclaims post-consumer materials and abandoned fishing nets that have become entangled in coral reefs and the ocean floor to create new materials while cleaning the marine ecosystem.

The process of making recycled fibres requires less energy than making virgin fibres. The manufacture of recycled fibres uses up to 90% less water and generates 80% less carbon footprint than the manufacture of new fabric.

In addition, its fabrics have the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certificate, which guarantees that they have been tested for hazardous substances and that they have been produced responsibly in local workshops.

The quality and comfort of swimwear requires elasticity in the products. Therefore, Belamer adds a small amount of synthetic elastane to the garments, which makes it difficult to recycle later.

Econyl® or regenerated nylon together with elastane is currently not recyclable. The recyclability of the products is highly important, as it depends on being able to recover them, recycle them and thus extend the useful life of the products manufactured.

Belamer strives to extend the life of the products by offering a repair service for its bathroom parts.

At Belamer they work to support and promote the local economy.

All their pieces are produced ethically and responsibly in a workshop in Barcelona (Spain), and 80% of their raw materials are sourced from Italy and the remaining 20% from Girona (Spain).

Producing in this way also helps them to reduce their CO2 emissions and support the local economy.

Belamer is a vegan brand! It does not use any material of animal origin in its collections. 

Belamer is a slow fashion brand! It makes small productions and re-stocks on demand. This results in a reduction of excess inventory and less waste.

They have also created an exclusive repair service for their swimwear. If you have one of their swimwear items and it needs repair, you can send it to their workshop for repair. 

Repairing instead of throwing away is the key to sustainable fashion! By extending the life of your clothes you can reduce your carbon footprint, water consumption and landfill space by up to 30% in just 9 months.

Belamer has disclosed to COSH! their purchasing and manufacturing locations, but for the moment they prefer not to publish the name of the factories on their website, due to competition concerns.
