Just like Funkita, the ecological fabrics are made in Italy and the swimming costumes are woven in China.
The swimming trunks and swimming shorts for men and boys are made of the innovative C‑Infinity fabric. The polyester fabric exclusively designed for Funky Trunks and Funkita, consists of 47% polyethylene terephthalate (PBT) and 53% polyester. PBT is extremely strong and elastic, perfect for swimwear. Both of the fibres used come from plastic, and are thus dependent on fossil fuels. So, in principle, the fabric is not sustainable. But for swimwear it is important that it is elastic and adapted to the weather conditions, chlorine, sun and a lot of movement. By working with Italian company C‑Infinity, the Australian brand facilitates new innovations in swimwear.
Funky Trunks’ swimming trunks and shorts are very elastic, dry quickly and breathe well. Funky Trunks ensures that your swimwear does not lose its colour or shape. The fabrics are digitally printed, which means that no toxic substances end up in the water, neither during production nor when swimming.
Funky Trunks uses 70% recycled polyester for its Eco C‑Infinity label. But the sustainable swimwear brand has the ambition to make their entire collection out of recycled polyester by 2025. We at COSH can only applaud this evolution!
The swimwear is 100% vegan and Cruelty Free. Animal testing is prohibited and the swim shorts do not contain any animal ingredients. So who are the swim shorts tested on? The happy employees of the Funky Trunks team.
COSH! spoke with the sustainability manager of Funky Trunks about their production location and working conditions. We were pleased to hear that the brand sets its sustainable ambitions high for the future.
