Bobo Choses not only cares about the well-being of the wearer, but also the well-being of our planet. That’s why the brand does its best to be as sustainable as possible. 

Bobo Choses uses a majority of natural materials, with more sustainable Cotton (including organic and regenerated cotton) accounting for more than half their collection. They have introduced BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) as a more sustainable source, and GRS (Global Recycling Standard) certified recycled cotton makes up 20% of their denim fabrics. They also use other natural materials like wool and rubber, and more sustainable synthetic materials like recycled polyamide and polyester.

Packaging

The brands shipping bags are made of resistant kraft paper that is 100% recyclable and biodegradable. The also have the international Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). The polybags contain biodegradable plastic

A double closing systems ensures returns can be sent in the same packaging. These also have a smaller size compared to other traditional packaging options, reducing their environmental footprint ​“less transport volume, fewer costs, less fuel consumption, no seal, or fillings… no waste!”

Water usage & chemicals

The brand is aware of the environmental and health problems due to dangerous chemicals used in the textile industry, that’s why all garments are supposedly Oeko-Tex certified, which guarantees the non-toxicity of the garments. Their organic cotton is also GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified, which ensures a more sustainable production of the raw material. 

For their Iconic Collection the brand usus NATURDYE. This innovative renewable dyeing process consumes 20% less water, 40% less energy and reduces carbon emissions.

Outerwear is treated with a BIONIC FINISH ECO water-resistant product and polyethylene bags contain biodegradable plastic. 

Their products are also chromium and nickel free.

Bobo Choses analyses its garments at one of Europe’s leading research centres called AITEX to certify that their garments are healthy. They also work with organizations like ANTHESIS to help them with action plans to address carbon, water, and waste reduction. 
 

Circular product design

The brand has many monomaterial garments which are easily recyclable at the end of use, and also use recycled materials, contributing to their circularity. Together with local foundation CEO El Maresme they stock all the leftover scraps and use them to recycle and create new fabrics.

For their Iconic Collection they use RECYCROM. A technology by which dye powders and printing paste are obtained from textile remnants that can be infinitely used. This technology can be applied to a wide range of fibers and contains a minimum of 65% textile waste from pre and post-consumer materials.

For this collection they also use NATURDYE. This process is based on pigments extracted organic waste from plant leaves and non-edible walnut shells. 

This special collection uses innovative materials like CIRCULOSE®. This material is made from 100% recycled textiles instead of new cotton, oil or wood. They are working closely with PYRATEX® to also integrate Seacell 14, a seaweed-based biomaterial, into their products.

The brand produces locally, mosty between Spain and Portugal, the majority no further than 10km away from headquarters, making the length of the supply chain short. 

We, however, are unaware of the source of most of the materials, making the real length of the chain unverifiable.

We are unaware of the brand’s transportation method, but it is safe to assume that for short distances between the headquarters and production location they use low-emission transportation methods.

Bobo Choses mentions the use of (merino) wool, cashmere and leather, but doesn’t provide any details regarding the ethical sourcing of the material. 
 

Pro­duct design

The brand produces clothing, shoes and accessories – like hats, scarves, bags and socks – for baby’s, kids and women. They also sell a small adult unisex collection.

The brand uses high quality materials and creates fun prints inspired by older decades, which never go out of style! They also provide extensive product care guides that help the user keep the products in use for as long as possible.
