From COSH! we want to introduce you to these circular fashion brands and entrepreneurs from Spain that will shine more than ever this year. We are convinced that all these circular, sustainable and talented brands will have a promising future.
Infinit denim
Clothing from post-consumer denim
Infinit Denim is a brand of clothing, bags and accessories founded by Montse Bayén and Núria Nubiola, under the principles of circular economy.
They create garments from recycled denim. They use the upcycling technique and innovative textile recycling that allows them to create new yarns and fabrics from post-consumer jeans.
At Infinit denim they don’t generate waste, they close the circle by giving denim a new life.
Sylvia Calvo
Fashion made from coffee sacks
Sylvia Calvo creates clothing collections with recycled materials. She works mainly with jute coffee bags and transforms them into unique garments and accessories. In addition, she keeps recognisable elements such as the coffee print, wearing it with full honour in her designs.
Sylvia Calvo really knows how to turn waste materials into new circular fashion products!
Elena de Frutos
Circular couture for brides and events
Elena de Frutos designs exclusive garments for weddings and events, created especially for each person, made with an excellent pattern and a quality tailoring that takes care of every detail.
Elena de Frutos is also a promoter of circularity in garments: do you want to wear a dress belonging to a relative for your wedding? Thanks to Elena you will be able to transform an old garment and give it a new life!
Oltramar
Designs made with sustainable organic indigo dye and fabric made from leftover stock.
Valentina is the creator of Oltamar, and she designs and makes some of her garments with unused fabric stocks from the most exclusive French sewing houses, thus encouraging the creative reuse of existing resources.
In addition, she uses leftover scraps to create new pieces, and the smaller pieces are given to a friend who uses them to make felt/capote paper to create new products, such as cushions or tapestries.
SAN FCO Denim Culture
Reuse and customisation of denim garments
SAN FCO Denim Culture is a brand that recycles and reuses any type of denim clothing: jackets, shirts, waistcoats, jeans, etc. Chiscu and Luis, the creators of SAN FCO Denim Culture, customise all kinds of denim garments by hand, drawing and painting them by hand in their own workshop in Barcelona.
Thanks to SAN FCO Denim Culture, denim garments get a second life, transforming them into unique denim garments according to the customer’s personality.
Sycorax
Accessories made from upholstery scraps
Sycorax is a brand of accessories created by Vanesa and Nazaret, two sisters, heirs to the art of restoration, who have understood recycling and reuse as a way of life since they were children.
With this background, it occurred to them to give a twist to everything they had learnt. Today, they make backpacks, bags and accessories with upholstery scraps from their own family workshop and other sustainable fabrics, in order to reduce the use of raw materials and contribute to the circular economy model.
Tocs Textile Craft
Tote bags and handbags made from surplus stock fabrics
Ona is the creator of TOCS. In her workshop she designs exclusive bags locally, designed for multiple uses and different lifestyles.
Part of her collection is made with cotton fabric bought from a textile company that collects surplus stock, and uses these fabrics, so they do not generate waste.
In addition, Ona collects the TOCS bag that you no longer use, and recycles it properly. This is one of its commitments, and that is why it uses easily separable raw materials to facilitate recycling.
LAMU African Concept Store
Handmade jewellery from Africa made from leftover stock fabrics
Each piece of LAMU jewellery is carefully handmade in Kenya using recycled brass. The creation process is a true act of love towards art and craftsmanship. The brass is cast in small batches, creating around ten units of each design at a time. These designs are then transformed into unique and sustainable pieces by talented artisans in Kibera, Nairobi.
When you buy a piece of jewellery from LAMU, you not only get a beautiful and unique accessory, but you also support a social enterprise that connects artisans and designers from different parts of Africa with the European market.
