These are the best hotspots for more sustainable fashion in Ghent

On Saturday the 1st of August, COSH! hosted, in collaboration with the city of Bruges, a launch event to present their new sustainable shopping map and scavenger hunt. The event was set up so that corona safety measures could be upheld at all times. The result? A small-scale picnic 1.5m apart from each other in the cosy Minnewaterpark in Bruges.
The event kicked off at the Bruges train station where everyone picked up a Blue Bike to get around the city easily (and sustainably!). Planning a trip to Bruges? We would highly recommend these handy easy-to-use Blue Bikes!
At the Minnewaterpark we enjoyed a delicious vegan breakfast courtesy of Monkey Eleven, one of our vegan-friendly restaurants. After a few words from Niki to explain the map, everyone planned their own route. Because of Corona we split up into small bubbles to explore the city. Thanks to the handmade COSH! masks made by Elkestiletto, we kept safe throughout the day.
Katrien Costers, fashion editor at Flair, was one of our guests. She headed first to Duka Moodstore. A small but cosy shop on Wijngaardstraat with Ibiza vibes. We are looking forward to reading her article about Bruges!
The map has something for everyone. Both clothing and lifestyle shops are featured. Men can go to the relaxed shop Fresh and we would thoroughly recommend mothers check out Lunabloom. For the fashionistas among us then there is of course a wide range of boutiques to visit including Boutiek Ruth, Mais Oui, L’Héroine, and many more. Did you know that Bruges also has a zero-waste shop? You’ll always get a warm welcome at Karmamarkt.
After all that shopping, you’re sure to be hungry…and so were we! We were glad to stop for lunch at Blackbird. It was also the perfect opportunity for everyone to share their experiences from the morning and the various sustainable shops they had explored. Many were surprised by the amount and the quality of shops available!
Would you also like to be surprised by what Bruges has to offer in terms of sustainability? Pick up your map at In & uit in Bruges and get exploring! We guarantee you won’t regret it!
