Only 50% of the clothing submitted to The Swapshop is actually swapped. The remaining 50% of this clothing (approximately 13,000 items per year) is of poor quality, worn out, or simply out of fashion. Therefore, this clothing is not suitable for exchange.
Together with their chain partners, The Swapshop is seeking a solution to this substantial textile surplus. In 2024, they will launch their very first solution: The Puffer. This is a circular laptop sleeve made from approximately 50% recycled cotton.
In this exhibition, The Swapshop takes you through the recycling process of their non-exchangeable clothing and introduces you to their Dutch chain partners, all of whom are pioneers in the circular textile industry.
