On the second Wednesday of every month, collective_repairs hosts a relaxed textile repair meetup at the Kleiderei in Hamburg. It’s an evening of easy-going, hands-on mending in good company, the next date is Wednesday 12 August, from 19:00 to 21:00.
A hole in a glove, trousers worn thin, a favourite jumper that has seen better days? Bring one or two garments you would like to repair or mend, and fix them yourself, by hand, with help and company along the way. Yarn, darning needles, fabric scraps, bits of wool and other materials are all on site, so you can get started straight away.
No experience is needed, everyone is welcome, whether you have mended before or are picking up a needle for the first time. Participation is free, thanks to funding from the Eimsbüttel district. New: places can now be booked in advance via the link in the organiser’s bio.
