FABRIC – Future Fashion Lab is Hamburg’s creative hub for more sustainable fashion and textile innovation. Located in the city centre’s Passagenviertel, it brings together designers, fashion labels, businesses, and universities to explore new ways of designing, producing and presenting fashion.
FABRIC unites retail, workshop, showroom and meeting space under one roof. In the vibrant Pop-Up Shop, a rotating selection of labels presents new collections each week. The location also includes a café, transparent workshop, and fully equipped studio spaces. FABRIC is a place for collaboration, innovation and public dialogue on the future of fashion.
In the workshop, modern technologies like automation, 3D printing, laser cutting and augmented reality are used to test new production methods. The lab explores how small-scale, urban manufacturing can find its place between traditional craftsmanship and outsourced mass production. A central question: How can more sustainable fashion become more appealing than fast fashion?
FABRIC is not a conventional store, but a dynamic fashion experiment that enriches Hamburg’s inner city and inspires forward-thinking. The project, initiated by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft and Design Zentrum Hamburg, is funded as part of a federal programme entitled “Sustainable City Centres and Town Centres” and is currently scheduled to run until 30 November 2025.
