On Saturday 4 April, from 12 noon to 5 pm, we’re opening the doors of the REantwerp studio for a screen-printing workshop, where you can transform an old item of clothing on the spot. With a simple and original touch, you can make an existing piece relevant and wearable again.
The concept
On 4 April, bring an old item of clothing from your own wardrobe and give it a new look on the spot using screen printing. This could be a T‑shirt, a pair of jeans, a pale or black jumper, or a shirt. It is important, however, that the item is made of cotton, so that the screen print really stands out.
We also ask that you only bring items that are already part of your own wardrobe. Newly purchased items from other labels will not be accepted. The idea behind this workshop is precisely to give existing clothes a second life, and to show how a small intervention can make you look at an item in a different way.
If you don’t have anything suitable in your wardrobe, you can also come to us: we provide blank T‑shirts and jumpers on which you can have your own screen print applied.
There is a choice of three screen print designs from our archives, each available in blue, white or black. No advance booking is required — you are welcome to simply drop in between 12 noon and 5 pm.
For this workshop, we are collaborating with Gezeever, the open screen-printing studio in Antwerp. Gezeever is not only a shared studio, but also a meeting place where people come together, exchange techniques and forge new collaborations. Their workshops are known for their accessible, artisanal and colourful approach. On 4 April, Els from Gezeever will guide you step by step through the screen-printing process. (gezeever.be)
