At Elise Verdegem, you buy a handbag in your favourite colours. Colours you always go back to. That you wear regardless of what fashion dictates. And therefore timeless for you, because colour is as inherent to a person as a shape, a style, a feeling. A bag you can show off. That you get compliments on. Because it is made to match you. A designer bag as an extension of who you are. A bag for a long romance, not a one-night stand.
Elise Verdegem’s production is done entirely in Belgium. Some bags are made by the designer in her own atelier, for other models she collaborates with Atelier Sauveur from Aalst. Quality raw materials, more ethical working conditions and a more sustainable collection are the basis. She buys leather – mainly vegetable-tanned leather (for some colours she still relies on chrome-tanned leather) – and haberdashery herself in small quantities in Italy and Belgium. The collection is independent of fashion seasons. An ICONS collection that is and remains, supplemented by capsule collections according to the mood of the designer and the need of the moment. In this way, Elise Verdegem breaks with the current fashion system.
