WORKING CONDITIONS & LIVING WAGES
NN.07 produces its collections in Bulgaria, China, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Tunisia and Turkey. To ensure labour standards in the supply chain, NN.07 is a member of amfori and applies BSCI audits. In addition, some partners have been audited according to the SMETA standard. According to the Impact Report 2023, 80% of the garments come from producers with social audits. However, the company works with several factories that do not yet have recognised certification.
The brand emphasises that it knows all its production partners personally and, according to its own statements, maintains regular, direct contact with them.
NN.07 does not have its own production facilities, but works with numerous independent companies, both long-standing and new partners.
The company supports the Danish organisation Hellebro with clothing for homeless young people and donates fabric samples to upcycling initiatives such as Skatkammeret and Tingcentralen.

PACKAGING
The company does not use conventional coatings for packaging and labels, opting instead for Paptic® hang tags with soy-based printing. Individual garments, such as chunky knitted cotton jumpers, are deliberately offered undyed, which saves both water and chemicals.
WATER USAGE & CHEMICALS
When it comes to fibre sourcing, the brand is increasingly focusing on plant-based materials with lower water requirements. Linen plays a particularly important role here. Only dew-retted linen, which does not require artificial irrigation, is used. European linen, which is grown under more environmentally friendly conditions, is also being used increasingly. Organic cotton is another key component in the material mix. By reducing its total production volume in 2023, NN.07 was able to lower its raw material consumption, and thus indirectly also its water consumption. In an effort to reduce the number of physical samples, the company also utilises 3D design software (CLO3D).
In the area of chemical management, NN.07 works exclusively with Lenzing™ for cellulose fibres. The TENCEL™ brand Lyocell and Modal fibres used come from sustainable forestry and are produced in closed cycles in which solvents are recovered and reused.
Most of the wool used is RWS-certified, which ensures both animal welfare and environmentally friendly farming practices. For leather, NN.07 cooperates with SPOOR, a supplier of traceable Scandinavian hides, and an LWG-certified Gold Tannery, which guarantees high standards for chemicals and wastewater.
The use of synthetic materials such as polyester, polyamide or elastane still poses a challenge. However, the proportion of recycled variants is increasing, and NN.07 plans to switch completely to what it calls ‘preferred synthetics’ by 2026. No specific measures to prevent microplastic emissions are mentioned, but the increasing shift towards natural fibres and recycled plastics indicates a certain awareness of the problem.
CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN
In terms of material composition, the brand strives to use monomaterials as much as possible in order to improve recyclability. Particularly in the case of cotton products and selected linen and denim items, the focus is on pure fibre composition, with no synthetic fibres added. Nevertheless, many products are still made from mixed materials, which makes recycling significantly more difficult.
NN.07 does not offer an official take-back system for worn clothing. There are only references to support for social organisations such as Hellebro, to which returned or surplus garments are donated.
When selecting materials, NN.07 occasionally uses recycled fibres, such as wool, polyester or cashmere. Deadstock is also used selectively in the design process, especially for smaller quantities of fabric or accessories. Although the use of such materials improves resource efficiency, it often makes subsequent recycling more difficult, especially in the case of products made from mixed fibres.
CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODELS
Although the brand emphasises the durability of its products and encourages its customers to use clothing for as long as possible, there are currently no concrete measures in place to actively promote repairs. There is also no take-back service for worn or discarded clothing.
In place of this, the company donates surplus stock and returned items from its headquarters to social institutions such as Hellebro, where they are refurbished and passed on to disadvantaged young people.
Although the brand shows a fundamental interest in circularity issues in its Impact Report, further circular business models such as rental or resale have not yet been established at NN.07.
DISTANCE & COMPLEXITY OF THE SUPPLY CHAIN

- Italy
- Portugal
- Romania
- Tunisia
- Turkey
- NN.07’s headquarters are located in Copenhagen, Denmark.
NN.07 has a complex supply chain with numerous production partners in various countries.
TRANSPORTATION
- NN.07 states that most of its emissions are generated in Scope 3, particularly through the production and transport of goods. However, the brand does not provide precise details on the means of transport used within the supply chain. It is known that many production partners are located in Asia and Southern Europe, which in part indicates long transport distances and associated emissions. The brand works with the Vaayu impact tool to calculate the carbon footprint of its transport processes and reduce it in the long term.
- NN.07 ships orders in cooperation with DHL GoGreen Plus, which reduces CO₂ emissions during shipping through the use of more sustainable aviation fuel.
- Wool
- Recycled wool
- RWS-certified wool
- Mulesing-free wool
- Alpaca (conventional, mainly from Peru)
- Cashmere (conventional, GCS-certified, recycled, SFA-certified)
- Mohair (RMS-certified and conventional)
- Leather (conventional, LWG-certified, Scandinavian traceable)
- Down (exclusively RDS- or Downpass-certified)
- Silk (conventional, in very small quantities)
Some of the wool used comes from RWS-certified regions, but the exact countries are not specified. The alpaca wool is sourced from Peru, where, according to the brand, free-range farming is practised. The leather comes from animals in Denmark and Sweden, processed by SPOOR / Scan-Hide with traceability back to the animal of origin. Cashmere and mohair sources are not detailed.
A large proportion of the wool used is mulesing-free; NN.07 also uses RWS-certified wool, which ensures both animal welfare and more environmentally friendlier agriculture. Recycled wool is also increasingly being used, although the fibres are not always suitable for all products due to their short length.
In terms of mohair, the brand has committed to phasing out conventional qualities completely and using only RMS-certified mohair in future. For cashmere, NN.07 relies on standards such as the Good Cashmere Standard (GCS) as well as recycled variants and SFA-certified fibres. Down comes exclusively from sources with RDS or Downpass certification, which guarantees that practices such as live plucking are not used.
Another highlight is the introduction of traceable Scandinavian leather, which is traced back to the animal of origin with the help of the SPOOR organisation. This leather is also processed in a tannery certified with Gold status by the Leather Working Group (LWG) – an indicator of higher environmental standards in leather production.
The brand’s goal is to use only animal-based materials that are either certified, traceable or environmentally and socially beneficial by 2027 – so-called preferred materials according to the company’s own classification. Nevertheless, NN.07 does not publish a separate ‘Animal Welfare Statement’.
PRODUCT DESIGN
NN.07 produces exclusively men’s fashion. The focus is on timeless, everyday clothing for men, including shirts, trousers, jackets, knitwear, suits, swimwear and coats. The style is functional, modern and understated.
SLOW FASHION PROCESSES
NN.07 usually releases two main collections per year. They also occasionally releases smaller collections or collaborations. The brand participates in traditional sales periods. Production takes place on an industrial scale on a just-in-time basis, with the brand emphasising that it manages its production volumes as efficiently as possible to avoid overproduction. NN.07 does not offer customisation or made-to-measure orders.
TRANSPARENCY ON PRODUCT
The NN.07 product pages list key information such as material composition, care instructions, fit details and the country of manufacture. Information on pricing including taxes, model sizes and shipping and return conditions is also provided. In addition, the brand provides information about its collaboration with a more climate-conscious shipping service provider in order to reduce CO₂ emissions from online shipping.
However, the traceability of a specific garment remains limited. Although the country of production is stated, there is a lack of further transparency – for example, regarding the exact factory, the origin of the raw materials or the finishing steps. Product-specific traceability via digital systems is not yet planned. Overall, NN.07 provides basic supply chain information at the product level, but is not fully traceable.
TRANSPARENCY ON PROCESSES
NN.07 provides relatively detailed information about its processes and suppliers at the brand level, particularly in its Impact Report 2023. The report openly lists both production partners and a large proportion of fabric and yarn suppliers, including their location, partnership duration and audit status. The brand states that it has mapped 100% of its garment factories and 91% of its fabric suppliers, which represents a comparatively high level of transparency.
However, product level traceability is not offered. The product pages only contain general information such as the country of production and the type of material, but no specific details about the respective factory, the origin of the raw materials or intermediate stages such as dyeing or spinning mills. There is no digital traceability system for individual garments.
On a positive note, NN.07 publishes a detailed annual impact report that highlights both social and environmental aspects. These include emissions, material use, certifications, partnerships and measures to reduce emissions in collaboration with the impact analysis tool Vaayu. The report also contains clear objectives, such as increasing the proportion of preferred materials or using only certified animal materials.
