Lovjoi’s sewing workshop is located in Swabia in southern Germany.

In addition to protecting nature, Lovjoi wanted to do something for humanity. With the influx of Syrian refugees, among whom there were many high-quality sewists from Aleppo and Damascus, Verena founded her workshop that employs refugees. In addition, she helps them to find a flat if necessary or with bureaucratic procedures. For Verena, sustainability starts with her employees. 

The fashion label now has about 15 employees. Women hold all management positions, some on a part-time basis. Verena Benz is a mother, and the reconciliation of work and family life and the promotion of women are issues close to her heart.

LOVJOI styles offer the highest quality and are made from sustainable materials such as organic cotton, linen, cupro, Tencel, Ecovero and recycled polyester.

All materials meet the highest requirements for the use of skin and environmentally friendly chemicals and conform to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.

Most of Lovjoi’s garments are made from a single material, which makes them easy to recycle at the end of their useful life. However, a small percentage of elastane is still used in some garments to provide elasticity, and the lace pieces still contain a high percentage of polyamide.

Lovjoi keeps transport routes as short as possible and, when shipping products, works with a CO2-neutral courier service.

Its primary production is located in Swabia in southern Germany. Other production facilities are in Turkey, Italy and Portugal. With the company’s growth in 2020, it was already looking into new production possibilities. 

For example, denim is produced in Turkey. There, they work with the brand Jeanologia EIM. This company develops machines that process jeans in a more environmentally friendly way to achieve a stone-washed effect with laser, for example. They use natural indigo, and no chemicals are needed for the fixings. And all this in 100% organic cotton jeans.

Lovjoi is certified vegan PETA-Approved and proves that luxury is also vegan and sustainable: for example, with Tencel or Ecovero, fabulous, thermo-regulating fabrics that have nothing to envy to silk but are made from sustainably cultivated wood.
