Growing organism
“Kefir thinks that people consider the drink as milky made of yoghurt, but use another variant and this is waterkefir”,tells Elke. “I discovered it through friends and was immediately inspired. I am actually a modelist and lecturer at the Fashion Academy, but I have discovered my new passion now. Kefir isa living organism that keeps on growing if you treat it well. Just like Kefir, the idea to do something with was also part of my agenda.”
Kefir is a probiotica and has a healing effect. This way, you help your intestinal flora, it is good for your skin and gives an energy boost. The flavor is similar to Kombucha. Kefir can not be compared to sweet champagne for kids but it can be as popular with children
100% natural tastes
All tastes that Elke adds to Kefir have a natural origin. There are two fixed flavors that are made throughout the whole year: ginger with hibiscus and quince with rose buds. The other tastes vary per season. In summer she even picks grapes from her own garden. It cannot get even more local, right? Other ingredients come from organic markets.
During Fall and Winter you can enjoy the flavor of orange and cardamom or grapefruit and goji berries. In spring, these are replaced by flavors such as elderflower with lemon and lavender with rhubarb.
Healthy and healing
The sparkling drink doesn’t just taste festive. Kefir is in fact a probiotic and therefore also has a healing effect. For example, it helps to maintain your intestinal flora, it is good for your skin and it gives you an energy boost. In addition, the drink is also sugar-free and gluten-free.
Minimal waste
Elke makes the Kefir drink completely by herself and does not waste any ingredients. The lemons that Elke uses during the first fermentation, is dried in a dry oven. This gives the lemons an intense flavour and is a nice addition to a glass of Kefir! The dried lemons are also available on the webshop.
The Kefir itself continues to grow and can be used endlessly. This creates zero waste! All other ingredients used by Elke are completely natural and can be composted.
Ecological packaging
Elke also does all the bottling and labelling herself. The label has a cheerful design, made by Sarah Corijne, and consists entirely of recycled material. The labels of sugar cane waste are easy to remove, so you can reuse the bottle without any problems.
You can keep the glass bottle and reuse it yourself or return it to Elke. She sterilizes the bottles and then reuses them.
