WORKING CONDITIONS & LIVING WAGES
As Frieda Meyer runs her own workshop, she can control the working conditions herself.
She favours handcrafted production and close cooperation with more responsible suppliers.
MATERIALS
- Main materials: Gold, silver, occasionally platinum
- Additional materials: Reused acrylic and wood scraps
- Gemstones: Second-hand stones or certified stones from Gerhard Hahn
- Metal suppliers: Bernhard Burger, member of the Responsible Jewellery Council
The brand mainly uses recycled materials.
Old gold is melted down and reused.
Fresh metals come from suppliers with voluntary certificates and fairer labels.
PACKAGING
- Jewellery boxes: Small metal boxes with engraving
- Ring boxes: Recycled cardboard
WATER USAGE & CHEMICALS
The goldsmith favours more environmentally friendly alternatives and does not use hazardous chemicals or hazardous waste. Instead of conventional pickling agents, she uses citric acid, which can simply be disposed of down the drain. Traditional fluxes are replaced by more environmentally friendly alternatives, and sulphuric acid gives way to the more sustainable Vitrex powder.
The result is fine jewellery with an eye on the environment and health – without compromising on quality.
