Produced in Tunisia and Turkey, Detox Denim manufactures it’s products at facilities that are supposed to be certified by major certification groups that verify their ethical practices. They are verified by certification groups such as BSCI, GOTS, etc. Armedangels is also at a leader status with the Fair Wear Foundation, providing their consumer with another layer of assurance.
This line uses majority of cotton in it’s garments, including organic as well as recycled cotton. The recycled cotton is certified by the GRS (Global Recycled Standard), assuring the consumers of their recycled nature. Part of the organic cotton is also GOTS certified, which means the material is sourced from ethically and sustainably grown cotton suppliers. They also use Hemp, which is a natural and sustainable, and a very small percentage of elastane.
Detox Denim uses recycled material, as well as makes most of the garments monomaterial, which makes recycling the garments easy at the end of use. The brand also has a take-back and reselling platform to keep the garments and materials in use for as long as possible.
Production in Tunisia and Turkey make the supply chain relatively long, however the exact length cannot be determined without knowing the locations of the Tier 2,3, and 4 suppliers. We are also not informed of the transportation methods, which make a huge difference in the emissions despite the length of the chain.
This line does not use any animal materials, and all the garments are Peta approved Vegan.
Armedangels is dedicated to sustainability, which also includes the longevity of products. Use of high quality materials assures this longevity of the garments. They also provide washing, care, and repair guides for the consumers to keep these jeans in use for as long as possible. Their secondhand platform also gives the garments a second life after their use.
Detox Denim achieves high levels of transparency regarding its materiality and production, however could do better by providing more details regarding transportation and tier 2,3 and 4 material suppliers.
