WORKING CONDITIONS & WAGES
Alma & Lovis produces in Portugal, Greece, Peru, Turkey and India.
Within the ‘Grown & Produced in Greece’ project, the entire production route, from cotton cultivation to the finished garment, covers only around 2,971 km.
According to the company, all production sites are certified to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).
GOTS covers both environmental and social standards, including fair wages, safe working conditions, a ban on child and forced labour, and the responsible use of resources. The certification is reviewed annually.
The brand deliberately works with a manageable number of production partners, mainly family businesses, small workshops and manufactories. Contact is close and based on partnership: Alma & Lovis visits its suppliers regularly on site to check working conditions, oversee processes and maintain direct exchange with the staff.
The Indian manufactory is run by a woman and actively supports women through secure jobs, fair wages and social assistance, a clear form of social commitment.
The Alma & Lovis team is made up predominantly of women.

PACKAGING
- The products are stored and shipped in a polybag made from recycled and potentially biodegradable material.
- In its ‘Policy of Responsible Business Conduct’, Alma & Lovis states that it aims for packaging solutions with a low environmental impact, for example through the use of recycled materials, minimal packaging and the reuse of packaging.
WATER CONSUMPTION & CHEMICALS
By using exclusively organic cotton from controlled organic cultivation, Alma & Lovis actively contributes to reducing water consumption.
In the ‘Grown & Produced in Greece’ project, around 30% of the growing area manages entirely without additional irrigation, and a further 55% needs only occasional irrigation.
The choice of materials such as hemp, as well as Tencel/EcoVero made from fast-growing trees that need no artificial irrigation, also underlines this more conscious approach to water resources.
The Portuguese production partner works with water-based prints.
GOTS certification ensures the strict handling of chemicals along the entire supply chain. GOTS certification covers the entire production chain, from raw material to packaging material, and is checked annually by independent auditors.
Individual production sites additionally hold further recognised eco-certificates.
As Alma & Lovis uses almost exclusively natural fibres, the risk of microplastics during washing is low.
With the naturally coloured cotton from Peru, the entire dyeing process is avoided, as the fibres already grow in natural shades.
CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN
Alma & Lovis uses almost exclusively natural materials. Synthetic fibres are used only rarely, so blends of plant-based and synthetic materials seldom occur, which is an advantage in terms of recyclability.
Alma & Lovis does not mention an explicit take-back service for worn or end-of-life garments.
The brand relies on durability through high-quality materials and timeless design as its contribution to sustainability. Care instructions to extend the lifespan of garments are communicated in detail, but specific repair programmes or guides are not mentioned.
CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODEL
Alma & Lovis provides no information about a repair service of its own.
The brand offers only detailed care instructions to extend the lifespan of garments, for example tips on gentle washing, drying and removing pilling.
Alma & Lovis does not offer a take-back service of its own or any other circular services for worn or end-of-life garments.

- Turkey (organic wool knit & organic cotton knit)
- India (GOTS-certified production)

TRANSPORT
- Alma & Lovis places great importance on short transport routes within the supply chain and produces, wherever possible, directly in the country of origin of the raw materials in order to minimise CO₂ emissions. The production route of the ‘Grown & Produced in Greece’ project within Greece covers 2,971 km before the goods are finally transported around 2,100 km to Bonn.
- The alpaca production in Peru follows the same principle: the wool is obtained, spun, dyed and knitted locally, so that the entire value chain remains within the country and unnecessary transport is avoided. Alma & Lovis provides no explicit information about the specific means of transport.
- Alma & Lovis provides no information about the specific shipping service providers or sustainability measures within the supply chain.
- Alma & Lovis uses DHL GoGreen for e‑commerce shipping.
- Merino wool: exact countries of origin are not explicitly named
- Alpaca from the Andes, Peru, is obtained, spun and processed locally
- Yak wool from Mongolia, from a small family business, where the yaks live outdoors in their natural environment

Alma & Lovis explicitly states that only merino wool of ‘mulesing-free’ quality is used.
Alma & Lovis provides no separate information about an explicit code of conduct regarding animal materials, although the general ‘Policy of Responsible Business Conduct’ names animal welfare as part of the company philosophy.
PRODUCT DESIGN
The range covers a broad spectrum of womenswear, from tops, shirts and long sleeves to blouses, skirts and dresses, and on to trousers, knitwear, jackets, coats and accessories. The collection covers both the casual and the business segment and is designed for versatile, everyday wear.
The collection’s style is timeless and casually elegant. A consistent colour concept ensures that the individual pieces can be combined with one another across seasons, which underlines the brand’s pronounced mix-and-match approach and enriches the wardrobe over the long term.
SLOW FASHION PROCESSES
Alma & Lovis releases two collections per year, a spring/summer and an autumn/winter collection. This corresponds to a classic but deliberately calm collection rhythm, which reflects the brand’s slow-fashion approach and clearly sets it apart from the fast-paced fast-fashion industry.
PRODUCT TRANSPARENCY
The product pages communicate quality features and details, a complete list of materials with percentage shares and short explanations for each material, care instructions, and the country of production including a note on fairer production conditions.
PROCESS TRANSPARENCY
Alma & Lovis actively communicates its sustainability values and production processes and provides extensive information on its website about materials, countries of production, suppliers and certifications. Individual production partners are mentioned by name and introduced with personal details, which represents a high level of transparency.
In addition, the brand has published a binding ‘Policy of Responsible Business Conduct’, which sets out principles on ethical business practice, social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
