WORKING CONDITIONS & WAGES

Alma & Lovis produces in Portugal, Greece, Peru, Turkey and India.

Within the ​‘Grown & Produced in Greece’ project, the entire production route, from cotton cultivation to the finished garment, covers only around 2,971 km.

According to the company, all production sites are certified to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). 
GOTS covers both environmental and social standards, including fair wages, safe working conditions, a ban on child and forced labour, and the responsible use of resources. The certification is reviewed annually.

The brand deliberately works with a manageable number of production partners, mainly family businesses, small workshops and manufactories. Contact is close and based on partnership: Alma & Lovis visits its suppliers regularly on site to check working conditions, oversee processes and maintain direct exchange with the staff.

The Indian manufactory is run by a woman and actively supports women through secure jobs, fair wages and social assistance, a clear form of social commitment.

The Alma & Lovis team is made up predominantly of women.

PACKAGING

• The products are stored and shipped in a polybag made from recycled and potentially biodegradable material.
• In its ​‘Policy of Responsible Business Conduct’, Alma & Lovis states that it aims for packaging solutions with a low environmental impact, for example through the use of recycled materials, minimal packaging and the reuse of packaging.

WATER CONSUMPTION & CHEMICALS

By using exclusively organic cotton from controlled organic cultivation, Alma & Lovis actively contributes to reducing water consumption.

In the ​‘Grown & Produced in Greece’ project, around 30% of the growing area manages entirely without additional irrigation, and a further 55% needs only occasional irrigation.

The choice of materials such as hemp, as well as Tencel/​EcoVero made from fast-growing trees that need no artificial irrigation, also underlines this more conscious approach to water resources.

The Portuguese production partner works with water-based prints.

GOTS certification ensures the strict handling of chemicals along the entire supply chain. GOTS certification covers the entire production chain, from raw material to packaging material, and is checked annually by independent auditors.

Individual production sites additionally hold further recognised eco-certificates.

As Alma & Lovis uses almost exclusively natural fibres, the risk of microplastics during washing is low.

With the naturally coloured cotton from Peru, the entire dyeing process is avoided, as the fibres already grow in natural shades.

CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN

Alma & Lovis uses almost exclusively natural materials. Synthetic fibres are used only rarely, so blends of plant-based and synthetic materials seldom occur, which is an advantage in terms of recyclability.

Alma & Lovis does not mention an explicit take-back service for worn or end-of-life garments.

The brand relies on durability through high-quality materials and timeless design as its contribution to sustainability. Care instructions to extend the lifespan of garments are communicated in detail, but specific repair programmes or guides are not mentioned.

CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODEL
