NUTT Amsterdam

Esther has a degree in costume design from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) and it was while watching a documentary on the issue of textile waste that she decided to create NUTT. NUTT means ​“useful” in Dutch. She collects fabrics and unworn clothes from those around her that would have wound up in the trash and makes the blazers herself in her workshop. No risk of poor working conditions as she does everything herself. In addition, the manufacturing is local. As a dressmaker, she wants to make a difference and hopes that the people wearing her blazers will share the story, so that the industry will eventually become more environmentally friendly.

Blazers are made from fabrics and garments that otherwise would have been thrown away. You will find blazers mixed with jeans, military jackets, other blazers, bombers, and old shirts. These clothes are assembled with old quality blazers. She only uses Gutermann thread, a very high-quality thread that adapts to all types of fabrics and is resistant to breakage. No button or ribbon is added. She reuses the buttons already present on the blazer or the item to be assembled. Your blazer is therefore durable and eco-responsible.

NUTT is a completely circular brand. Clothes that would have ended up in the landfill are reused and given a second chance. NUTT encourages consumers to share its approach and realize that everyone can make a difference.

The supply chain is short as the clothes are collected locally and made in its own workshop in Amsterdam.

Since the brand works with the donations it receives, some clothing may come from animals. Some NUTT blazers, for example, may contain wool. As a result, thanks to the brand, blazers or other woolen items are reused. This is great because it avoids harvesting new wool and the material is natural and sustainable.

Upcycling is and always will be trendy and it’s good for the planet. Since the founder makes the blazers herself, they are available in small quantities.
