In a small house on the outskirts of Bruges, Dominique ‘Mien’ Vieren makes, restores, transforms and creates handbags on demand in her studio Mien Kaba. Surrounded by pieces of leather and inspired by her own creations and vintage pieces, Dominique brings her bags to life. She does so through her impressive craftsmanship and with a nod to her West Flemish roots. After all, ‘Mien Kaba’ means ‘my bag’ and is a reference to visits from her grandmother, who always asked ‘Woar is mien kaba?’ before she left the house.
Mien Kaba has the labels Handmade in Belgium and Handmade in Bruges, which Dominique is very proud of, as they are a recognition of her expertise in (leather) crafts. If you are interested in a bag by Mien Kaba, make an appointment and work out your dream handbag with Dominique. Likewise, if you have an old handbag that you want to repair or transform, Dominique will be there to help you out.
If you want to know more about Mien Kaba, check out the Mien Kaba brand page where we go into detail about the different types of leather used and Dominique’s incredible craftsmanship.
