Begane Grond

The sustainable department store Begane Grond by creatives Mirte Engelhard and Annet Veerbeek is located in the Modekwartier in Arnhem. Here you will find shop in shops with unique products from local designers and you can also go here for workshops or styling advice. There is also a shared studio space where starting designers have a place to work. In short: a creative breeding ground where everyone works together and shares knowledge.

Founders Annet Veerbeek and Mirte Engelhard are two creative allrounders. Both have been active in the Modekwartier for 12.5 years and are currently bringing their creativity together in their new concept Begane Grond. Annet Veerbeek also works as a stylist under the name Annet Veerbeek Styling and has her own label Net‑A with products that are locally made and customised in her studio in Arnhem. Designer Mirte Engelhard has her own label Mirte Engelhard Fashion, with which she distinguishes herself by designing casual clothing, focussing on comfort, geometric shapes and unique combinations of fabrics and patterns. She mainly designs for women, but also for men, for example with tailor-made suits for grooms and looks for artists.

In the store, at the front of the Begane Grond, you will find a very unique and various collection: styling left-overs from Annet Veerbeek, the collection of Mirte Engelhard Fashion, upcycled collections, jewellery, fashion accessories and colourful designs from Bas Kosters and other local designers. Separate departments for books, music and interior design completes the department store.

The workshop space at the back of the store is open for designers and creatives to bring their ideas to reality. This creative space offers career opportunities and is a place where people can meet each other. You can rent the studio, the machines or the space for workshops. Annet and Mirte also give workshops here.
