PRODUCTION LOCATIONS
- Arnhem, Netherlands
WORKING CONDITIONS & LIVING WAGES
Net A works as much as possible with local makers and designers from Arnhem, with a preference for talent from ArtEZ and the Modekwartier. Materials are also sourced through circular collaborations, such as 2Switch, an organisation that encourages reuse in Gelderland. She wants to be a creative hub.
Net A is an independent stylist and entrepreneur who uses her network to work sustainably and locally. For product development, existing materials and vintage clothing are reused. The brand does not work with large factories and has direct control over the production chain, with upcycling and reuse at its heart.
MATERIALS
- Vintage clothing and accessories
- Residual materials such as PVC, leather and fur (exclusively as residual material, no new fur)
- Upcycled materials from 2Switch, such as banners from Arnhem
- By working with residual materials and second-hand clothing, Net A avoids unnecessary production impact and reduces the mountain of waste.
PACKAGING
- Net A always reuses packaging materials and does not buy new packaging. In the shop, paper bags made from recycled paper are used.
WATER USE & CHEMICALS
Because Net A focuses on reuse and upcycling, no new chemicals or water-intensive processes are used. This minimises the ecological impact.
CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN
Net A is committed to a circular fashion chain by reworking used materials into new accessories, bags and jewellery. Even fur coats that would otherwise be incinerated are given a second life as bags and leg warmers.
Lately, Annet has also been trying to source many of her materials on Vinted.
CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODEL
Alongside upcycling, Net A offers a unique styling-and-resale concept: clothing and accessories used during photoshoots and campaigns are resold rather than thrown away or returned. Styling leftovers are also made available for reuse.
Fur accessories come with a lifetime guarantee, because Annet cannot know the wear history of the fur coats.
DISTANCE & COMPLEXITY OF THE SUPPLY CHAIN
Net A works locally and keeps the chain short and transparent. The clothing and materials come from the Arnhem region, often from the Modekwartier or via 2Switch.
TRANSPORT
Because Net A has no webshop, products are not shipped on a large scale. Customers buy the unique pieces directly in the shop.
- Fur
Net A uses no new fur. In the Netherlands, fur coats are not sold in second-hand shops. When vintage fur coats go unsold and would otherwise be destroyed, they are transformed into new accessories to prevent material waste.
PRODUCT DESIGN
Net A sells unique fashion items, from clothing and accessories to shoes. By combining her styling expertise with design, she creates a personal and expressive fashion collection.
SLOW FASHION PROCESSES
Net A works without seasonal collections and adds pieces depending on available materials and styling projects. There is no mass production, and every item has a unique character.
Depending on how busy things are on the styling side, Annet makes more room to create new upcycling projects.
PRODUCT TRANSPARENCY
All materials used are visible in the shop, and customers know exactly where each piece comes from. Styling remnants and vintage items are clearly labelled.
TRANSPARENCY ON PROCESSES
Net A works entirely openly and locally. Customers can walk into the shop and hear the story behind the clothing first-hand. There is no concealing marketing, just an honest approach with upcycling and reuse at its core.
Conclusion
Net A is an inspiring brand that seamlessly combines creativity and sustainability. By working with local designers and using vintage and residual materials, the brand minimises its ecological impact. From unique fashion items and accessories to upcycled bags and jewellery, every piece has a story. What makes Net A truly unique is its transparent way of working: no mass production, but handmade, circular fashion with a conscious vision.
