The hammam towels are produced in Turkey through the ‘Women Project’. The project is committed to the enormous gender inequality in Turkey (and the rest of the textile industry) and gives women the chance to work independently. With the money they earn, they can financially support themselves and their families, so their daughters can go to school. In addition, Oxious is also socially committed in a different way: in the past 2 years, they donated 6% of sales to various charities such as Free A Girl and Trees for All.
In the area of the environment, Oxious also ensures positive change in the textile industry: by using 50% recycled material, they save 18,000 litres of water per towel. They also work more and more with waste streams, where old clothing or towels are converted into new products.
