In the Kempen, there is little in the way of sustainable clothing. There are few physical clothing stores where you can go for fair clothing. After fifteen years, Meer dan Mooi in Geel is still one of the few. This is partly why Meer dan Mooi organizes “Mooi voor Morgen.” This is not a clothing fair, but there are exhibitors with fair clothing. They literally come from all over the country:
- Meer dan Mooi: organic clothing store+webshop from Geel with an offer for women and men
- Reyntje de Vos: webshop with only sustainable children’s clothing. This store comes all the way from Oudenburg in West Flanders
- Ode to You: leather designer handbags made from leftovers from the food industry. Each bag comes with a lifetime guarantee. Ode to You is located in Mechelen.
- Bani: this entrepreneur is just starting out and makes handbags from old materials: tablecloths, curtains, placemats.… Everything is made in Kontich
- Ana Edelsmid: jewelry from her own workshop with fair trade gold and eco silver (Heusden-Zolder)
- Tiny Sea Tales: jewelry made with sea glass (Hasselt). I found this exhibitor on the Cosh site by the way, so thanks!
- Publi Olen: textile printing company that pays attention to vegan ink on fabrics made from organic cotton
- VE-lifestyle: vegan shoes in different materials (Steenhuffel)
- Aard’ige yarns: webshop with only plant-based knitting materials. From knitting needles in bamboo to knitting yarn in hemp and organic cotton (Leuven)
- Sea Shepherd: the clothing of Sea Shepherd is fair trade and organic and supports the work to preserve marine life
Wasn’t it about time for a sustainable fair in the Kempen region? At Mooi voor Morgen you will meet about 50 sustainable exhibitors in the different meanings of the word. Part of the fair is vegan, another part is fair trade, organic, local and zero waste. Mooi voor Morgen has a large clothing stand there.
