Tiny Embroidery & Sashiko: Creative Ways to Repair Your Clothes
Visible mending blends hands-on craft with creative freedom, and this workshop introduces two distinct approaches to giving worn clothes a second life. With tiny embroidery, holes and stains become miniature works of art. A few carefully placed stitches turn a mend into a personal design detail, not something to hide.
Midway through, the session shifts to sashiko, the traditional Japanese stitching technique. Deceptively simple at first glance, sashiko builds striking geometric patterns from small, rhythmic stitches that reinforce fabric while giving it its own distinct look. The two techniques pair beautifully together, or can be used entirely on their own.
The workshop welcomes complete beginners as well as anyone with some embroidery experience. You’ll try out different creative repair approaches and find out which technique suits you and your favourite pieces best.
