Poetic Fashion, Made Nearby: bellaLEYK at the Stuttgart Art & Design Market
Over two days, Im Wizemann in Stuttgart fills with more than 140 exhibitors for the Kunst- und Designmarkt — a market built around quality, individuality, and getting to know the people behind each piece. Among the fashion labels on show is bellaLEYK, exhibiting and selling its slow fashion collection made locally in Baden-Württemberg.
Founded in 2003 by Bärbel Leyk, bellaLEYK builds each piece around a literary quote, translating poetry into refined cuts and expressive details rather than seasonal trends. The collection is produced made-to-order in the label’s own studio and with a small manufactory in the region, with select styles made from GOTS-certified cotton. Repairs are offered too, so pieces are designed to be kept and mended rather than replaced.
Beyond bellaLEYK, the market spans fashion, jewellery, ceramics, stationery, and product design, alongside workshops, live performances, and food from the on-site caterers. It’s a rare chance to shop directly from small labels that often have no shop of their own — and to hear the story behind each piece straight from its maker.
