The Maker Store in Amsterdam organizes The Maker Market once a month. This cozy weekend market showcases the finest brands and coolest makers from Amsterdam and the surrounding areas.
MAKER ASPECT
To live up to our name, it is important that items are either handmade or designed by the maker/founder of the brand. If production is outsourced, we expect a good, fair-trade relationship with the makers, and this should be highlighted in the story behind the products. Imported or factory-produced products without this background are not allowed.
SUSTAINABILITY
We understand that the journey towards sustainable entrepreneurship is often a process. While complete sustainability is not a requirement, it is definitely a plus and can be decisive when there are numerous applications. In our selection process, we will consider material choices, production processes, and overall practices (such as the use of packaging materials, reuse, carbon footprint, etc.).
REPRESENTATION
The direct interaction with makers is what makes our market so special, so we give priority to makers, designers, or entrepreneurs who personally represent their products. We understand that it is not always possible to be present at the market, and there may be stages in the development of a brand where this is challenging.
