Visible Mending Workshop
In this 2‑hour session, you’ll learn fun and visible ways to repair your knitted garments. You’re welcome to bring your own knitted items (socks, sweaters, etc.). It’s even better if they have a hole in them, so you can repair it during the workshop. Don’t have any damaged knits at home? No problem — you can also use this darning technique to add a splash of color and personality to your knitwear. We’ll work with different yarn textures and thicknesses to find a fun match for your outfit.
What you’ll learn in this quick repair workshop:
How to choose colors and yarns for your garment
What to look out for when darning knitwear
How to create a basic darn
How to use a darning mushroom
Materials:
Bring your own knitted garments (socks, sweaters, etc.) that you’d like to work on. Ideally, bring wool or cotton items, but blends of synthetic and natural fibers are also fine. For beginners, we recommend avoiding fuzzy knits like mohair or cashmere.
All materials used during the workshop are included in the price. You’ll likely be able to repair at least one hole during the session — possibly more, depending on their size. If you’d like to continue practicing at home, you’ll be able to purchase additional supplies in the studio.
