In this workshop you will get started with repairing your own clothing by adding visible embroidery. As a result, not only is your garment repaired, but you also add some extras to it.
_
The workshop is largely inspired by the traditional Japanese repair technique ‘Boro’, in which the embroidery technique ‘Sashiko’ is used. This technique is very popular nowadays as a ‘new’ way of repair. Come to this workshop to learn the history of this technique and the technique itself!
_
Traditionally, the technique made the fabric stronger, making it last longer. At some point, geometric patterns were developed, usually with white thread and on indigo-dyed fabrics. In addition to being a beautiful way of repairing, it can also be used to decorate your garments.
_
During the workshop you practice with this beautiful traditional embroidery technique. In addition, we offer even more options and inspiration to repair your clothing in a beautiful way. You do not need to have experience with embroidery or sewing to participate. All tools and materials are included. (bring your clothes to be repaired!)*
_
*Basic kit with tools/materials and instruction booklet are included. Of course you can bring your own piece of clothing on which you would like to apply the technique, preferably not stretch fabric. Denim works very well for example.
