How Will We Live in 2050?
On Thursday, 28/11, Stroom vzw is hosting a lecture as part of the European Green Deal initiative. The timing is deliberate — on the eve of Black Friday, the pinnacle of overconsumption. Kringwinkels Vlaanderen prefers to call it ‘Kring Back Friday,’ focusing entirely on promoting reuse.
The European Green Deal — what’s that?
In 2019, the European Commission launched an ambitious plan to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050. The European Green Deal is a binding climate law and a comprehensive action plan designed to transform our way of life. With ambitious targets on topics such as mobility, energy use, and housing, the Green Deal promises to be a green transition. However, this transition must also be fair and inclusive and must not hinder the economic growth of the Union.
In this lecture, you’ll learn about the origins of the Green Deal, how the European institutions aim to implement this growth strategy, and what obstacles and challenges must be overcome to achieve this ambitious package.
Jakoba Van der Linden, Sustainability Officer at Jan De Nul, will provide additional insights into how this multinational company from Aalst applies these principles in practice.
The lecture is free and offered by Europa Direct East Flanders in collaboration with Europahuis.
Location: De Markthal at the Gendarmeriesite, Denderstraat 22, 9300 Aalst
Time: 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Don’t miss out! Register before 24/11 by emailing Ilse Top.
