Westsouls makes extensive use of organic cotton, which aims to make sustainable use of natural resources by not using external inputs such as chemical fertilisers, synthetic pesticides and genetically modified seeds.
They have also started working with bamboo, a fast-growing plant that requires 5 times less water than cotton.
In their latest collection they have also incorporated other materials such as recycled polyester and viscose.
Not only do they incorporate sustainable materials in their garments, but also in the whole production process. The hang tags are made from recycled Kraft paper, and their products are protected for delivery in 100% recyclable and 70% recycled envelope bags, and then packed for shipping in boxes made from 100% recycled cardboard.
Also, the inks used in the packaging for the logo and other graphics are water-based, and are OekoTex certified, so they are not harmful to the environment.
In addition, they calculate the CO2 emissions of each shipment and allocate a portion of the amount of the shipment to offset the total emissions. This materialises through forest protection projects, improving biomass through better forest management practices and verifying project progress.
