All their products are designed and manufactured in Spain, specifically in Mataró (Barcelona). They advocate local production, placing value on Spain’s experience and textile tradition.
In addition, although they work with an intermediary who is in charge of managing all other stages of the production chain, they ensure that the manufacture of their products complies with all Spanish and European regulatory measures, in terms of safety, labour and environmental conditions.
Westsouls makes extensive use of organic cotton, which aims to make sustainable use of natural resources by not using external inputs such as chemical fertilisers, synthetic pesticides and genetically modified seeds.
They have also started working with bamboo, a fast-growing plant that requires 5 times less water than cotton.
In their latest collection they have also incorporated other materials such as recycled polyester and viscose.
Not only do they incorporate sustainable materials in their garments, but also in the whole production process. The hang tags are made from recycled Kraft paper, and their products are protected for delivery in 100% recyclable and 70% recycled envelope bags, and then packed for shipping in boxes made from 100% recycled cardboard.
Also, the inks used in the packaging for the logo and other graphics are water-based, and are OekoTex certified, so they are not harmful to the environment.
In addition, they calculate the CO2 emissions of each shipment and allocate a portion of the amount of the shipment to offset the total emissions. This materialises through forest protection projects, improving biomass through better forest management practices and verifying project progress.
Westsouls has been verified as a Circular Project by The Circular Project, which guarantees that they comply with a triple positive impact: economic, ecological and social, through compliance with the TCP code of ethics. In other words, a guarantee of good practices in sustainability and circularity in fashion, and a commitment to the continuous improvement of processes.
In addition, like most of their garments, they are mono-material, that is, they are made of 100% organic cotton and are easily recyclable. Therefore, the garments fit perfectly into the circular economy!
The entire production chain is within a radius of 15km, in line with our values of local production. The weaving, dyeing, manufacturing and finishing processes are carried out in different workshops and factories in Mataró.
Therefore, Westsouls has a short production chain and, thanks to the fact that production is carried out in Spain, they ensure that they comply with Spanish and European regulatory measures, in terms of safety and labour and environmental conditions.
Westsouls is a 100% vegan brand!
The shipping boxes are sealed with a Westsouls vegan sticker. These stickers consist of a polyolefin film, which is free of animal components, and a matt white film that protects the sticker, which is completely ecological and biodegradable.
Westsouls creates minimalist designs inspired by nature, which never go out of fashion.
Through their designs, they want to share their passion for enjoying nature. They set out to capture this “slow life” philosophy through clothing, as they believe that fashion is one of the best ways to express and reflect one’s lifestyle.
In line with their philosophy and passion for the environment, they try to generate as little waste as possible, producing in small quantities, and giving a second use to the fabrics left over in the manufacturing process, for example, making neck accessories.
The COSH! team was able to talk to the founders of the brand and we can assure you that Westsouls is a transparent brand. Although they do not publicly display their suppliers on their website, they have provided us with the names of all their suppliers and their certificates.
In addition, they have a good traceability of the spinning, weaving, manufacturing and finishing processes. The only thing that could be improved, in order to obtain complete traceability, would be to know the specific origin of the cotton used to produce the fabrics, as well as the type of cultivation and products used.
