Vimse states that it sets strict requirements for environmental quality and working conditions, and that it runs annual checks of factory conditions to make sure suppliers meet its standards. The brand does not publish proof of these audits.

Water Usage & Chemicals

Vimse states that its goal is for all products to meet OEKO-TEX Standard 100, meaning free from harmful substances and gentle on skin. 
Beyond that, there is no information on water use, dyeing, bleaching or wider chemical management.

The swim nappies, swim shirts and shoes are made from synthetic materials. Washing these fabrics may release microplastics.

Circular Product Design

Most of Vimse’s cotton items are close to single-material, which is easier to recycle. The pads and nappies carry a PUL layer sandwiched between the organic cotton to stop leaks. This makes them hard to recycle, though the brand explains the layer is needed for the products to actually work. 

Reusable products extend the lifespan of materials and thereby reduce waste and the consumption of new resources.

Circular Business Models

Vimse offers a warranty on all products, ranging from 2 to 10 years. If something goes wrong, costumers can have items repaired, and if repair isn’t possible the brand sends a replacement.
