How sustainable is Toad&Co?
This screening has been done by Fairify
Toad & Co is a California-based fashion brand for men and women. As a member of 1% for the planetm, the brand is transparent about material use and mainly uses sustainable materials, such as 100% organic cotton, tencel, hemp and recycled fibers. But not all of its materials are sustainable. The company’s goal is to convert all synthetics to 100% recycled by 2025 and certify all wool via the Responsible Wool Standard by 2024. The wool has already been approved by Oeko-Tex and Toad & Co communicates that it’s non-mulesed.
The Californian brand offers customers a sustainable shipping method and uses recycled and recyclable materials in all of its packaging. On top of that, Toad & Co have a nice guarantee policy: If you don’t get a compliment after wearing it three times, or if you find something wrong, the company will take the garment back and make it right. There’s a Code of Conduct in place, but it’s unclear to which extent it is upheld throughout the supply chain and where the factories are located. Obviously, the intention to do the right thing is there, but a little more transparency is needed before we can recommend Toad & Co as a sustainable alternative.
