The Secrid wallet is produced in the Netherlands. The brand attaches great importance to the social aspects of production and therefore chooses to cooperate with social workshops. Social workshops offer employment opportunities to people with a distance to the job market.

Moreover, all materials are sourced from European producers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Italy.

Secrid has been a certified B‑Corporation since the end of 2021. This means that the company is audited every three years by the organisation B Lab. In doing so, Secrid must meet certain standards in terms of environmental performance, transparency and working conditions.

Secrid chooses high-quality, durable materials for their products. The Cardprotector is made of aluminium. This material has a long lifespan, protects your cards from RFID and NFC exposure, and is also easy to recycle.

Secrid also uses leather in the wallets. The brand only uses European tanned leather, with much of it processed in the Netherlands. Leather has a long lifespan, the longer a product is used the smaller its impact on the environment. 

Secrid also uses plant-based and synthetic, vegan alternatives and is constantly researching new, innovative materials and alternatives to leather.

In 2009, Secrid calculated the carbon footprint for all their products and processes. With this carbon footprint, the company went to work to reduce and offset their CO2 emissions. Secrid works with the non-profit organisation FairClimateFund on reforestation projects to offset these CO2 emissions, the brand is therefore completely carbon-neutral.

Secrid launched a collection together with circular bag brand Freitag. This Secrid X Freitag wallet collection consists of an upcycled Secrid Cardprotector combined with a wallet design made of truck canvas by Freitag. The colourful and unique wallets are a great eye-catcher.

The Dutch brand wants to avoid that their production processes would create surpluses or waste, so they developed new cutting and stitching methods to avoid this. Soon, most of the card holders will even be made from recycled aluminium.

Secrid has a short supply chain as most of the materials are produced in the Netherlands. Even the assembly of the wallets takes place in the Netherlands. As a result, the environmental impact of transport is minimised and, due to fast delivery times, few intermediate stocks are needed. Some materials are produced in Belgium, Italy and Germany.

Most of the Secrid collection is made out of cow leather. A few wallets are made of sheep- or calfskin. Secrid exclusively uses European tanned leather. However, it is not certain that the animals have lived in Europe. Due to the lack of transparency in the leather industry, it is very difficult to find out exactly where the material comes from and in what conditions the animals lived. 

Besides this, Secrid also offers alternatives to leather. These wallets are made from vegan leather alternatives such as Mirum, made with natural rubber and plant waste. Secrid’s collection also includes wallets made of synthetic materials such as polyester with a thermoplastic polyurethane coating. In these, the brand places particular importance on the quality and longevity of the wallets.

Because Secrid uses high-quality materials, the wallets have a long lifespan. This is also central to the design, with the wallets being minimalist and practical. Secrid has developed several models, each available in many different colours and textures. With stitching and embossing, Secrid provides an added touch to some designs.
