The brand is built on trust and social responsibility. This is why Rhumaa works with the ADIOESMAC cooperative (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral de Organizaciones Económicas y Sociales de la Microregión de Cahabón). This is a cooperative that brings together small cocoa farmers in Guatemala. The organisation exports the cocoa to US and European manufacturers, who can then use it to make products such as chocolate.

Thanks to ADIOESMAC’s fair trade practices, cocoa farmers are now earning a higher income through direct trade, eliminating the need for middlemen.

The cocoa comes from Guatemala and is harvested there on a small-scale and sustainable practice. The small-scale farms and collectives there work traditionally, with respect for nature. Many operations are done by hand, such as harvesting and shelling the cocoa cobs. The beans are then selected and roasted on a wood fire.

The cooperative is committed to sustainable and organic farming practices and aims to support farmers’ economic development while protecting the natural environment.

Rhumaa Cacao embraces circularity by repurposing cocoa by-products for compost and eco-friendly packaging.

The cocoa is grown, harvested, fermented and dried in the Cahabón region in Guatemala. The cocoa travels a long way to the Netherlands.

However, by working directly with the ADIOESMAC cooperative, Rhumaa limits the number of stakeholders in the supply chain. In this way, the brand can better guarantee that farmers are fairly compensated for their product.
