Nümph

Nümph has drawn up its own code of conduct that all their manufacturers must adhere to. This includes ensuring that employees can work in safe conditions and earn a fair wage.

For garments that have the GOTS label (Global Organic Textile Standard), the manufacturers have also been audited by an independent organisation. So you can be sure that your purchase was made in ethical conditions.

Nümph’s collection uses a lot of organic cotton. As mentioned before, these garments have the GOTS certificate. This means that the manufacturer has been audited for the use of chemicals, among other things. Organic cotton is grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers and also uses much less irrigation water than conventional cotton. 

In the Earth Friendly capsule collection, Nümph uses only documented and traceable materials. With these products, you can find out where it comes from through an additional label.

Other sustainable materials featured in the collections are Ecovero viscose and Modal. These are two types of viscose from the manufacturer Lenzing. The materials are made from wood pulp, sourced from sustainable forestry. Moreover, Lenzing has developed a closed-loop production process where no chemicals can be released into the environment.

Garments made from natural materials are more circular because materials such as cotton, Ecovero viscose and Modal are biodegradable. However, the garment is only biodegradable when it consists entirely of a natural material. When it also contains synthetic materials, the garment is much more difficult to recycle after use.

Nümph does not give much information about the compositions of their clothes. The brand uses a lot of material blends. When different materials are mixed in one garment, it is much more difficult to recycle because the different materials have to be separated.

Nümph is unfortunately not transparent about their production locations. Therefore, we don’t know what their supply chain looks like, or what distances a garment has to travel to get to you.

Animal materials such as sheep’s wool and alpaca are sometimes used in the Nümph collection. The brand does not provide information on the origin of these materials, so we cannot estimate how animal-friendly they are.

The Nümph collections combine playful and classic elements in their feminine and elegant fashion. The brand says it uses quality materials in their designs to ensure longer life of the clothes. The designs are colourful with hand-drawn prints.

Nümph scores very poorly on transparency. The brand shares little information about their operation. For instance, we don’t know where the clothes are made or from what materials exactly.
