All shoes are made by Loints of Holland at their factory in Hungary. Here, the brand guarantees good working conditions that comply with European Union labour laws and regulations. 

On top of that, Loints of Holland follows the eight principles of the Fair Wear Foundation to ensure ethical production. These principles include minimum wages, safe and healthy working environment, prohibition of child labour and prohibition of discrimination in the workplace. Both Loints of Holland’s factory and their suppliers are required to follow these rules.

Loints of Holland only works with European suppliers to ensure that the materials used come from Europe. The shoes are made from quality Terracare leather sourced from the German tannery Heinen.

This tannery has Gold certification from the Leather Working Group (LWG), meaning the company is energy-efficient, uses sustainable production processes and does not release chemicals. Heinen also uses 40% less water than conventional tanneries.

The shoe soles are made of natural rubber and cork. Spanish manufacturer Analco makes sustainable soles for the Loints of Holland collection. The company has the FSC certificate. This label from the Forest Stewardship Council shows that all materials come from sustainable forestry. The company can ensure that the cork and rubber are traceable so that Loints of Holland can know precisely where they came from. Analco also goes further in its sustainable production processes, looking for ways to save more water and replace animal oils with vegetable oil.

To keep its environmental footprint as small as possible, Loints of Holland works with recycled packaging materials.

The strong materials used by Loints of Holland ensure you can enjoy your shoes for a long time. In addition, the brand guarantees the shoes can quickly be disassembled to repair or replace certain parts.

Taking the shoe apart also makes it much easier to recycle. Loints of Holland’s designs are also minimalist, with no lining, eyelets or embellishments. This, too, ensures that they are possible to recycle after use.

Loints of Holland has a short supply chain, located in Europe. The shoes are designed in the Netherlands and made in Hungary. All materials come from Europe, where the brand works with a German tannery and Spanish producer.

Loints of Holland uses two types of cow leather in their collection. The brand only uses European leather to ensure the animals were raised under ethical conditions. A German manufacturer tans the leather.
