WORKING CONDITIONS & WAGES
The brand maintains close partnerships with biodynamic farms and ecological shepherds in the Netherlands, Egypt, Spain, Belgium and the United Kingdom. Many of the materials come from Demeter-certified farms, especially from the farm in Egypt, which is known for its pioneering role in biodynamic agriculture. This certification ensures ecological, social and ethical standards across the entire supply chain.
Production is craft-based: all pieces are made in a socially committed atelier in Groningen, a B‑Corporation-certified business that offers women with distance to the labour market professional opportunities and training. Through such partnerships, LOADS Collection actively promotes social inclusion and fairer working conditions.
The company maintains direct and regular contact with its partners, visits farms and workshops in person and relies on a long-term, manageable supply chain rather than numerous changing suppliers. This allows it to effectively monitor labour and environmental standards and ensure a more ethically responsible production environment.
MATERIALS
- Biodynamic Egyptian cotton (grown and woven in Egypt)
- Wool from Drenther Heath sheep (from the Dutch nature reserves De Kreake (Húns) and It Mandefjild (Bakkeveen))
- Castlemilk Moorit wool (from the United Kingdom)
- Spanish merino wool
- Plant-based dyes (from biodynamic cultivation, including coreopsis, sunflower, onion skin, woad (Isatis tinctoria), chamomile, rhubarb, walnut)
The materials used are entirely of natural origin and Demeter-certified, which makes them more environmentally friendly. The biodynamic cotton requires less water and no pesticides.
The wool from Drenther Heath sheep and Castlemilk Moorit sheep comes from ecological grazing and contributes to landscape management.
All dyes are plant-based and biodegradable. Ingredients are chosen to be as monomaterial and recyclable as possible, in order to ensure circularity.
The Demeter-certified cotton used by LOADS Collection is among the first fully biodynamic textiles worldwide. In addition to cotton, biodynamically grown dye plants are cultivated in the Netherlands, so that, according to Loads Collection, the entire textile value chain is based on natural and regenerative principles.
The biodynamic approach offers proven ecological benefits: soils can store up to eleven times more CO₂ than in conventional agriculture and show on average more than thirty percent higher soil fertility than in organic farming. The SEKEM cotton used by LOADS contains around 90% fewer pesticides, requires about 20% less water and sequesters around three tonnes of CO₂ per hectare per year in the soil. At the same time, biodynamic plant cultivation contributes to the promotion of biodiversity, even though quantitative data on this remain limited.
PACKAGING
The brand uses exclusively second-hand packaging, mainly collected cardboard boxes that are reused in order to avoid new packaging.
WATER USAGE & CHEMICALS
LOADS Collection works exclusively with natural fibres and plant-based dyes, which means no synthetic chemicals, bleaches or printing inks are used. This significantly reduces the risk of water and soil pollution. The Demeter-certified materials used are subject to strict guidelines for water and chemical management, which include closed nutrient cycles and the avoidance of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers.
Since the label does not use synthetic or recycled mixed fibres, no microplastic emissions are generated.
Dyeing is carried out with plant-based pigments such as coreopsis, sunflower or onion skin, which ensures the potential biodegradability of the textiles and protects the health of water and soil.
CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN
LOADS Collection produces exclusively monomaterials – products made from a single material – in order to ensure circularity. No synthetic fibres or blended fabrics are used.
The brand offers a composting service: customers can return suitable materials, which, according to Loads Collection, are composted on the company’s own farm.
LOADS Collection uses materials such as recycled window frames or recycled filling materials from Auping for furniture pieces, as well as deadstock wool in cooperation with Claudy Jongstra.
Because natural fibres are used, the textiles can be easily repaired, re-dyed or recycled, which further strengthens circularity.
CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODELL
Loads Collection works with the Naaijerij in The Hague, which carries out repairs.
There is no official rental or resale model, but the combination of natural materials and local craftsmanship supports circular use and product-extending practices.

The animal-derived materials used come exclusively from biodynamic animal husbandry and are Demeter-certified, which guarantees high animal welfare standards and species-appropriate conditions. Mulesing is not practised with these sheep breeds, as they come from small, ecological herds.
All fibres used come, according to the company, from transparent, controlled sources that promote animal welfare, landscape management and ecological balance.
PRODUCT DESIGN
LOADS Collection offers interior, fashion and accessory products aimed at adults, including cushions, blankets, furniture, hats and bags. The clothing and accessory pieces are unisex and follow no gender-specific style, but a timeless, craft-based design approach.
SLOW FASHION PROCESSES
LOADS Collection works with a permanent, steadily growing collection, to which new designs or collaborations are occasionally added. All products are made to order to avoid overproduction and ensure more conscious resource use.
Some projects also emerge as bespoke commissions in collaboration with designers, hotels or hospitality partners.
TRANSPARENCY OF PRODUCT
The product pages of LOADS Collection offer a high degree of transparency and detail. Each description contains information on the materials used, their certified origin and the craft-based production. It is stated precisely where the fabrics are woven and the products manufactured. The plant-based dyes and their biodynamic origin are also listed.
In addition, the pages include information about cooperation partners, care instructions, delivery times and background information on the biodynamic farms and ecological processes. This allows each product to be fully traced throughout its entire creation – from the cultivation of raw materials to the craft-based manufacturing.
TRANSPARENCY OF PROCESSES
LOADS Collection provides comprehensive information about its processes, materials and suppliers. The brand details where raw materials originate, which partner farms are involved and how production takes place – both on the general website and on the individual product pages, which offer product-specific traceability.
