La Böcöque

La Böcöque was born from a deep friendship between Sara and Olalla, and from their passion for fashion, the desire to create very special designs and the conviction that it is possible to do things in a different way, always with respect and sustainability.

Sara and Olalla, in their university days, took advantage of any free time to give free rein to their imagination and create a wide variety of accessories that were later sold at small craft fairs in Galicia. Gradually, however, they grew and made the leap to national and international fairs. 

Then, ready for the next step, they trained in pattern making and decided to start making bags. After a few seasons, and many bags, La Böcöque was born, their brand of limited collections, designed in their own workshop in Cangas do Morrazo (Galicia) and made in a small workshop in Boqueixón ‑A Coruña, under decent working conditions and responsible with all parties involved.

Böcöque, being a brand that is committed to local and ethical production, also uses local fabrics. Most of its fabrics come from a European supplier with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), GRS (Global Recycle Standard) and Oeko-Tex certificates, certificates that guarantee that the fabrics have been manufactured with quality and sustainability criteria. 

Most of its collections are made with cotton or organic cotton fabrics. Although they also use linen, recycled polyester and a small percentage of elastane, a non-sustainable material, but necessary to provide greater elasticity to the garments.

By using fabrics such as organic cotton, they protect the people who work in direct contact with them. They reduce the use of chemical products: from the pesticides used in the cultivation of raw materials to the highly toxic dyes that are extremely dangerous for people and the environment in the manufacturing process.

In addition, their products are digitally printed and have the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Product class I certificate, which guarantees that no toxic substances have been used in the dyeing process.

Most of La Böcöque’s garments are made of cotton, a biodegradable, recyclable, reusable and compostable fabric. However, some of the garments contain a small percentage of elastane mixed in, which makes them difficult to recycle.

Even so, so that your garment lasts for a long time in your closet and is not discarded, La Böcöque has an alteration service. If you make the purchase in their physical store, they have two dressmakers in the area, who will be able to adjust your garment to perfection so that it fits you wonderfully.

When designing a piece of clothing they look for more than just aesthetics. They want it to be functional and sustainable, but also to promote fair trade and the local economy, so all La Böcöque garments are designed and made in Galicia.

The design, pattern making and prototype making is done in their own workshop and the scaling of sizes, cutting and tailoring is done entirely in a workshop located in Boqueixón – A Coruña (Galicia).

La Böcöque’s clothing collection does not contain animal-derived fabrics – La Böcöque is a brand that respects animal welfare!
