Good Time Charlie has a studio and a showroom where the collection of textiles is presented. 
In her Amsterdam atelier, Claire makes every piece by hand, from design to cutting. By owning her own atelier in the Netherlands, she ensures fair working conditions and retains full control over the entire production process and the materials used, which ensures the high quality of every single product.

Materials

• upcycling materials (polyacryl)

Good Time Charlie upcycles vintage polyacrylic blankets without using resources such as water or chemicals. Although synthetic fibres can release microplastics and end up in the environment, Good Time Charlie gives the textiles a second life and saves them from being thrown away. COSH! welcomes the reuse of existing resources. What others see as rubbish is turned into long-lasting garments that can be worn for up to 50 years by the upcycling brand. 

Packaging

The packaging is made from recycled paper. 

Water usage & chemicals

The company favours upcycling, which avoids both water consumption and the use of harmful chemicals. 
When using recycled synthetic materials, the potential release of synthetic fibres remains. 
The upcycling method is a resource-saving and more sustainable approach to producing textiles. 

Circular product design

Good Time Charlie focusses on polyacrylic.

Nevertheless, the upcycled vintage materials used are often difficult to trace as they come from different sources and are not always clearly documented in terms of their composition. This makes it difficult to ensure that the materials are mono-materials, which is of great importance for the circularity of products, as this can significantly complicate the recycling process. 
When the coats are no longer worn, new items such as cushions can be made from them. This creates timeless, unique items that can be used again and again.

Good Time Charlie focuses holistically on circular practices. 
Claire wants to make her customers aware of how much quality and longevity there is in the products of previous generations – and that there are many unused resources, so that every upcycled product created at Good Time Charlie is truly unique.

Circular business models

If necessary, Good Time Charlie offers free repairs to extend the life of the products. 

Customers can return their purchases to Good Time Charlie and receive a 25% discount on their next purchase.

Good Time Charlie also accepts donations.

Transportation

Good Time Charlie is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and produces directly on site in its own studio. This ensures short transport routes, which minimises the ecological footprint and keeps CO2 emissions low.

Good Time Charlie only upcycles beautiful blankets made of polyacrylic and therefore does not use any animal products. 

Product design

Good Time Charlie produces upcycled coats and jackets made from 100% recycled materials.

Slow fashion processes

The label does not work in collections, but in individual drops. 
Claire produces in small quantities and focusses on longevity by processing textiles that would otherwise have been disposed of. By recycling these vintage materials, she gives them a second life and creates exclusive products from them.
She favours direct contact with her customers and is happy to welcome and advise them personally in her studio in Amsterdam-Zuid so that together they can create unique, tailor-made pieces that will give pleasure for a long time.

Transparency on processes

Good Time Charlie attaches great importance to transparency in all areas of production. Customers can witness the production process as the jackets and coats are manufactured directly in the Amsterdam studio. The origin of the vintage materials, the upcycling-based approach and the working conditions are communicated openly.
