NOTE: A sample set of ingredients was used, which may not reflect the true sustainability of the brand
Endro’s approach is about getting back to basics, crafting natural cosmetics with minimalist formulas using natural and local ingredients. The brand’s commitment to sustainability is evident in their range of creams, scrubs, and toothpaste.
Endro’s products are 100% natural in origin and plastic-free. The brand carries the Cosmébio label, an international label for organic cosmetics. This guarantees environmentally friendly production and that at least 10% of the ingredients are from organic farming.
Packaging
Endro avoids plastic for all their packaging! Their serums are packaged in reusable glass bottles, body creams in recycled aluminium bottles, and lip balms and toothpastes in glass jars. Endro also offers recyclable toothpaste refills, to help cut down on packaging.
Endro also offers some solid products, such as shampoo and conditioner bars, which are packaged in cardboard.
Water usage
As Endro uses natural ingredients, which are sometimes organic, water pollution is greatly reduced. Additionally, the brand avoids plastic, which prevents harmful microplastic pollution too.
NOTE: Water usage/pollution down to the raw materials is generally impossible to track for cosmetic products.
Circular packaging design
Endro uses glass jars for some of its products, and no plastic packaging! The jars can be returned to the store or given a second life by reusing them at home. If you return them to Endro, they are sterilized and reused for new Endro products. Other products are packaged in recyclable materials including cardboard and aluminium.
Distance & complexity of the supply chain
Production locations:
- France
The production takes place in Brittany, France. Some product pages state the origin of certain ingredients. For example, their linseed oil is sourced from France, while they state that their broccoli oil is sourced from Europe. As the brand does not disclose where all its ingredients are sourced from, it is difficult to estimate the exact length of their supply chain.
Transportation
Endro does not disclose what transportation methods are used in their supply chain or for e‑commerce, making it difficult to determine the associated emissions.
Since animals are an integral part of the environment Endro wants to protect, Endro’s products are 100% vegan and not tested on animals!
Product design
Endro invites you to shop on their website based on a range of different skin concerns you may have, such as skin sensitivity and imperfections. This helps to promote inclusivity in their products. They also have some kid-friendly choices, such as strawberry flavoured toothpaste which is suitable for children from 3 years of age.
Transparency on product
As every item is made in France, you’re always guaranteed to know where your specific purchase was produced! Endro takes their product transparency further by listing all the ingredients used on their product pages, and sometimes stating where they were sourced from too.
Transparency on processes
Endro is a smaller brand and therefore does not publish a sustainability report. However, there is some information about their sustainability efforts on their website. This could be supplemented by indicating the suppliers of the ingredients.
NOTE: Transparency in cosmetics isn’t yet well regulated.
