Bo Weevil’s production is based in Turkey and India. In Turkey, they focus on producing high-quality fabrics, especially using Turkish Bergama cotton for weaving and knitting, while all bath textiles are also made there. In India, they work with a single fabric supplier from whom they’ve sourced for over 30 years, purchasing three specific types of fabrics that differ slightly in quality from their Turkish offerings.

The company maintains strong relationships with its suppliers, emphasising personal visits to ensure ethical practices and smooth cooperation. Iris, from Bo Weevil, annually visits their main producers in both Turkey and India. Although most suppliers have been visited, there is one recent partner they have not yet visited personally as of 2024, though interactions have occurred at fairs and in the Netherlands, ensuring ongoing dialogue and partnership stability.

The majority of their fabrics and products are crafted from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton (verified by COSH!), ensuring high environmental and social standards. They occasionally mix up to 5% other fibres, such as elastane, into approximately 10% of their fabrics, specifically for one denim and a few jersey fabrics, to enhance functionality.

In addition to organic cotton, Bo Weevil has embraced recycling, having recently acquired GRS certification (as verified by COSH!). This certification allows them to offer fabrics made from recycled cotton, sourced from both organic and conventional origins. 

Packaging

Furthermore, Bo Weevil is proactive in minimising packaging waste by reusing boxes and other packaging materials received from their suppliers. They also use recycled paper for their invoices, packing slips, and business cards, further reducing their environmental impact. These practices not only help in conserving resources but also keep operational costs down, demonstrating a holistic approach to sustainability.

Water usage & chemicals

Bo Weevil strives to limit their water usage by using organic cotton, that uses less irrigation water than regular cotton. Also the use of recycled cotton attributes to this. Organic cotton also limits the use of chemicals like pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers.

There is no information available about the chemicals and dyes used later in the production process.

Bo Weevil has enhanced its commitment to the circular economy by obtaining GRS certification, allowing them to produce fabrics made from recycled cotton sourced from both organic and conventional materials. Conversely, goods produced in Turkey are transported by road using trucks, which is efficient given the closer proximity to their Dutch headquarters. 

The brand does not use any animal derived products, hence can be considered Vegan.
